Chill Factore is one of the largest visitor attractions in the North West and home to the longest real snow slope in the UK. Learn about the world-famous explorer, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his amazing Antarctic expedition! Your students will help to commandos to pack, prepare and gather essential survival equipment for the mission ahead.
What activities are available during group visits?
Polar Regions Discovery Box: Are your KS1 and KS2 learning about the Antarctic this winter? Use our discovery resource box in our dedicated multi-sensory space Mini Moose Land to explore topics such as animals and habitat, food chains, the Inuit people and shelter/igloo building and staying warm in the cold.
Commando Joe's Antarctic: Bespoke alpine workshop led by DFE funded Commando Joes. With 1.5 hours of classroom challenges and then 1.5 hours of snow based fun. The day includes topics such as survival skills in the Antarctic, and the world famous explorer Sir Earnest Shackleton.
Lessons and Course Programmes: Primary and pre-school lesson programme where our aim is to make snow sports fun and accessible to all children. We offer all day beginner lessons as well as 3-10 week courses.
Mini Moose Land Moose Hoose: For EYFS and Under 4's we have Mini Moose Land and Moose Hoose, a safe multi-sensory space for play and development.
What size groups do you cater for?
We can cater for up to 120 pupils for a full activity day. Workshops have set group sizes of 12-30 pupils per half day session.
Do you offer on-site classroom facilities?
Yes, but these must be pre-booked through our school and groups team on 0161 749 2218.
Is there first aid on site?
Yes, we have first aid trained staff on site at all times.
