Ackers Adventure is a registered charity that offers a range of outdoor activities to all ages and abilities. We offer a variety of opportunities to try outdoor activities such as lessons, clubs, event days, school holiday programme, taster sessions, courses and much more. Our activities include skiing, climbing, canoeing, bellboating, archery, bushcraft, jungle challenge, adventure trek, orienteering, residential stays, team building, first aid courses, zip wire, tower drop fan descender, Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
Why book Ackers Adventure for Residential School Trips and Educational Visits?
Ackers has its own 26-bed self-catering residential centre this can be booked on its own or you could let us help you build a package of Activities to keep you occupied during the day. We can cater for anything from a full activity package of climbing, Watersports, Zip wires etc to a one of activity or field trip analysing the different habitats of a Canal, River and Pond. Or what about a Ski trip in Birmingham, or a morning fishing for Plastic in the Grand Union Canal to help the environment finished off with a round of Disc golf on our Nine hole course the possibilities are endless.
Which Curriculum Subjects do you cater for?
Curriculum topics available: Measurement, Graphs and data.
If you would like to include Maths as an outcome then why not Measure and calculate the length of our Ski slope or Zip wire then calculate the speed of descent, Alternatively collect the scores from an Archery session and then manipulate the data back in the class room.
Our centre is all about outdoor activity that can be tailored to suit your needs, in particular, we offer GCSE courses in Climbing and Orienteering but can also offer National governing body awards for Canoeing and Skiing.
Our bushcraft instructors love to "spark" pupils imagination with a bushcraft session including fire lighting, shelter building and survival skills.
As a British Canoeing centre we can get you on the water in Canoe's, Kayaks or Bell Boats for anything from a fun starter session to a more advanced British Canoeing Paddle award. why not complete your Duke of Edinburgh award expedition by canoe?

Friction plays a large part in Skiing, or why not calculate speed on the Zip wire.
Curriculum topics available: Living things and habitats, Ecology and environment, Minibeasts, Habitats.
We have lots of different environments on-site there are 3 different water environments the Canal, River cole and our pond great for a species comparison then we have the woodland and grassland.
What about a plastic fishing trip down the Canal in one of our Bell boats how much can you collect?
What activities are available during group visits?
Ackers Adventure offers a number of activities that coincide with curriculum subjects or programmes that can be adapted to cover current topics. We can also run GCSE PE in Skiing, Climbing and Canoeing. Primary Orienteering, Snowlife Awards, Paddle Awards, Duke of Edinburgh Awards, JASS Awards and First Aid Courses for Children
What size groups do you cater for?
Our Residential centre sleeps 26 but we can accommodate loads more for a Day visit.
Do you offer on-site classroom facilities?
We have a number of rooms available that can be used as classroom, meeting spaces and indoor eating areas.
Is there first aid on site?
All of our Instructing staff have a relevant first aid qualification, we also have 2 defibrillators on site.
Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
Yes we have recently been improving our offering for Disabled groups we now have 2 Wheelchairs specifically for either wheelchair Abseiling or getting around the site, we can also offer Archery and depending on the disability Bellboating is very popular. the residential centre has a lift for disabled access.
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
We have also been working with more Special Educational needs groups or individuals and love to tailor our activities to make them work.
