Which curriculum topics do we cater for?

green tick Physical Education School Trip

Climbing Canoeing Archery Sailing Kayaking High Ropes Zip Line Aqua Park

Physical Education is the cornerstone of all we do. All our activities are outside and get kids moving and learning how to safely exercise, whatever their starting point. For many who are used to a lot of indoors and screen time, the opportunity to be immersed in nature can be the catalyst they need to truly discover the joys of manipulating the environment with their bodes, developing strength and resilience along the way.

green tick Watersports School Trip

SUP Stand Up Paddleboarding Sailing Kayaking Canoeing Raft Building Windsurfing Power Boating

Over 35 years ago, the Galloway Activity Centre (then the Galloway Sailing Centre!) started out as a small sailing and paddle sports school on Loch Ken. A lot has changed since then but our biggest passion is still getting people of all ages and from all walks of life out onto the water. Our instructors are trained to deliver the Royal Yachting Association syllabus in Windsurfing, Sailing and Powerboating and the British Canoe Union/Scottish Canoe Association syllabus in paddlesports training. Everyone that visits gets an opportunity to challenge themselves on the water.

What size groups do we cater for?

8-150

Is there first aid on site?

Yes, all our staff hold valid first aid certificates and there is a first aider on stand by 24/7.

Access for visitors with disabilities

As well as disabled amenities we have a range of disabled access boats allowing everyone to take part in activities on the water.
All our activities have been enjoyed by people with disabilities and alongside our disabled sailing club we hold a disability activity day every year. Our staff are experienced in making sure that everyone gets the most out of the outdoors as possible regardless of ability.

Visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Yes We certainly can. Please use the form below to let us know your group's specific SEN requirements and we will get back to you with more information on how we can tailor our learning experience for your children.

Anything else?

We're proud to be one of the first centres in Scotland to run the John Muir Trust award programme which encourages participants to engage with the unspoiled Scottish landscape we operate in. Pupils experience an action filled adventure week while discovering the natural world by paddle, sail and on land.
