Why
book 'Maths Workshops'
The workshops focus on simple ideas to great effect. Using basic Maths, numbers, counting, shapes and space learner's work together to build simple modular forms. The ideas found in this workshop are developed throughout our repertoire of workshops, from KS 1 & 2 right up to KS 3 ,4 & 5.
Providing catalytic support for teachers. In the 60 minute Tetra workshop we are able to show learners how algebra can help solve a mathematical problem demonstrating it is has real world applications.
Design Technology topics: Mechanics and engineering, Materials.
The Mathematical world of construction is intrinsic to all of our workshops, but none more so than in our STEM & STEAM workshops, like Ferris Wheel, Roller Coasters, Bridges, Shelters, Skyscrapers
PSHE topics: Teamwork and resilience.
Pupils Work individually, in groups and altogether to create one large structure, or remaining in groups make their own structure. e.g. bridge, shelter, sculpture. Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
The workshops are accessible to all, sometimes with the addition of a table. Much of the hands-on work is carried out on the floor, which may be beneficial or may require some adaptation from ourselves, the school or both. We want to be as inclusive as possible, so please give us as much information as you can in advance, so we can look at how we can adapt workshops to best meet any particular requirements.
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
Due to the hands on nature of our activities, those children with Special Educational Needs will find themselves able to access our activities with great success. Class teachers are often apprehensive about how those pupils will be able to input into the workshops but are quickly put at ease when they see how easily they take to the hands on and visual challenges.
