Join us with your class for The Great Story Adventure, where you will enter a thrilling world full of imagination, adventures and fascinating historical tales, which will spark a lifelong love of books, reading and discovery.
A DAY OF DISCOVERY AT THE STORYBARN AND CALDERSTONES PARK
Your day with us will include an interactive trail, led by our Storyhunters, to discover some of the park’s important historical features including our beautiful woodlands, Sensory Gardens and the Allerton Oak, a 1000-year-old tree.
We’ll pause for engaging Shared Reading sessions where we’ll read aloud together, as well as a range of exciting activities that bring the stunning surroundings to life. Upbeat, energetic and lots of fun, our trails will give your class the chance to explore South Liverpool’s fascinating heritage.
You’ll also get to discover the wonders of The Storybarn itself, in a 90-minute workshop filled with imaginative adventures. In a bespoke space filled with objects to inspire and hundreds of books to read, your class will experience Shared Reading, book talk, story building, crafts and imaginative play, even creating your own tale to take back to the classroom with you!

• Understanding some of the ways in which we find out about the past and identify different ways in which it is represented.
• Being involved, concentrating and developing ideas.
• Increasing vocabulary and understanding.
• Using spoken language to develop understanding through speculating, hypothesising, imagining and exploring ideas.
• Encouraging children to use their voices expressively and creatively.
