Weardale Adventure Centre is located in the North Pennines in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Situated just an hour from Newcastle, Durham and the Lake District, Ireshopeburn finds itself situated in a rural location within County Durham. Our Centre is set in a picturesque site boasting 5 acres of grounds.
We offer a multitude of activities and packages and are in the fortunate position of being able to create bespoke programmes for every client. The majority of our activities take place within our grounds or within a 10 minute minibus ride from the Centre, meaning maximum time is spent on activity.

Weardale Adventure Centre promotes ‘real activities’ from underground exploring, canoeing on the river Wear to rock climbing. We use only qualified and professional staff to run all of our activities. We offer exceptional health and safety standards, holding an AALA licence and full LOTC badge.
You will find us to be flexible in arranging a customised package to meet the specific needs of your school. Weardale Adventure Centre offer great support in the lead up and duration of your stay. We are happy to visit your school prior to your visit to chat to children and parents and answer any questions they may have.

What activities are available during group visits?
We offer a wide range of activities such as Canoeing, Rock Climbing, Bush Craft, Gorge Walking, High Ropes, Kayaking, Underground Exploration, Nature Trails, Crate Stacking, Archery, Team Building and River Adventure.
What size groups do you cater for?
Our Centre can sleep up to 80 guests, however we offer sole use of the Centre for groups of 40+.
Do you offer on-site classroom facilities?
We have two indoor rooms suitable to be used as classrooms and an outdoor learning area.
Is there first aid on site?
All staff are First Aid trained.
Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
Our Centre currently has limited disabled facilities.
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
Yes.
