Plas Gwynant Outdoor Education Centre is proudly part of Sandwell Residential Education Service (SRES). The team have been delivering adventurous school and group programmes in the Snowdonia National Park since 1958.
At SRES we deliver a unique range of transferable learning experiences through outdoor exploration, adventure, and creative arts. Our practitioners are skilled at delivering appropriately challenging, memorable experiences, and addressing a wide range of learning outcomes.
Programmes can be fully integrated with school curriculum and ethos, inclusive, designed to meet students' specific learning needs and planned so that learning is reinforced and embedded back at school.
SRES centres are small but perfectly formed - sole occupancy is available at Plas Gwynant so it truly becomes the participants' home for their visit. Located at the foot of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) in North Wales, the centre is perfectly situated for a wide range of adventurous outdoor activities on both land and water.
Our very experienced and highly qualified staff are committed to providing quality residential outdoor and adventurous educational programmes, and will ensure that participants and staff alike have an enjoyable and unforgettable experience.

The team provide a welcoming and personal approach to learning, and offer unique outdoor experiences within a beautiful and inspirational setting.
With sole occupancy available for groups, Plas Gwynant is a converted mansion house set in 20 acres of parkland at the heart of Snowdonia. We provide great facilities with a real feel, aiming to make all visitors feel part of our family.
Once at Plas Gwynant most of the activities are on our doorstep so little time is spent travelling to & from activities. We want to maximise your time with us. In addition, we aim to have the same staff work with the activity groups for the whole visit so that the activities can be tailored to the needs of individuals and the group; we adjust the level of challenge to suit.
Which Curriculum Subjects do you cater for?
Physical Education
All of our activities are physically active and we reflect on the importance of moving more for wellbeing. We can also deliver specific curriculum units, such as GCSE PE or OCR L2 Nationals.
PSHE
Curriculum topics available: Teamwork and resilience, Mental health and awareness.
Our programmes develop skills and attributes such as resilience, self-esteem, risk-management, teamworking and critical thinking skills. We apply the "Feelgood 6" tools to help us to lead happier and more successful lives.
Bushcraft
In our bushcraft area we look at the ways that fires can be created, and we build dens and shelters in the woodland.
Fieldstudies
We are set amongst the mountains, rivers, valleys and beaches of the Snowdonia National Park, and our highly qualified staff can help you achieve all kinds of fieldstudy activities.
What activities are available during group visits?
Activities include canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, abseiling, mountain adventure, gorge walking, gorge descents, mine exploration, beach exploration, abseiling, bushcraft, overnight expeditions, problem solving and many more.
Our aim is to deliver transferable learning through outdoor adventurous activities. We deliver and support a wide range of learning activities such as:

KS2/3 transition work
KS3 GSCE preparation
Developing Growth Mindsets
Challenging the most able
KS4 PE and Geography coursework
Y11 / 12 Transition
A Level Field studies support

Adult social weekends

What size groups do you cater for?
Maximum 54 participants.
Sole occupancy is available for a group of 40+
New facilities mean that our reduced minuimum booking number is 20 participants (shared centre)
Do you offer on-site classroom facilities?
Our main classroom includes AV facilities. There are network points and wifi where required.
Is there first aid on site?
Yes, all tutorial and support staff undergo first aid training as part of their induction and ongoing training.
Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
Yes
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
Yes, we can work with a wide range of young people's specific educational needs including physical, learning and emotional needs. Please ring for specific details.

Plas Gwynant Outdoor Education Centre is part of a family of 4 residential centres in Worcestershire, Staffordshire, Shropshire and Snowdonia and is part of Sandwell MBCs Education, Employment & Skills Directorate. We work with schools and groups from all over the UK.
