Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Activity Centre, is home to the UK Youth National Charity. Located in 65 acres of private estate in the New Forest National Park, the centre provides all groups and individuals with the same opportunities to experience, learn and develop.
Offering an extensive range of on site adventure, field studies and development activities all linked to the National Curriculum, this is the perfect venue to bring your class away for a day trip or a week long residential.
Our focus is on helping you achieve your aims and objectives through our high quality sessions with experienced instructors and we provide a strong platform for Learning Outside the Classroom. We help young people with personal and group development; improving communication, increasing self-confidence and teaching them new skills and how to work as part of a team.

Avon Tyrrell has been operating since 1949 and is a well established centre of excellence. We are fully committed to the safety of our guests as a priority and remain at the forefront of accepted good practice with a strict Health and Safety checking system.
What activities are available during group visits?
With over 40 different activities available on site such as: Climbing/Abseiling, High Ropes/Low Ropes, Archery, Canoeing/Kayaking, Raft Building, Pioneering, Bushcraft, Orienteering, Trust Walk, Icebreakers, Mountain Biking, Shelter Building and more... we can tailor make an activity programme to achieve the aims and objectives of your group.
We also run different programmes and Awards from the centre including Forest Schools which encourages and inspires individuals through exploration and discovery and the John Muir Award to help encourage young people to appreciate the value of wild places.
What size groups do you cater for?
We can cater for small groups and individuals to large groups. For residentials we can accommodate up to 110 in the main house, 62 in the lodges and even more if out Camping. Activity sessions are set to a ratio so please check with our team for how many groups will be needed to participate in activities.
Do you offer on-site classroom facilities?
Yes, there is a training room and straw bale classroom available to hire plus additional facilities in the main house.
Is there first aid on site?
Yes, all of our staff are first aid trained. We also have an on call person at night available for any emergencies.
Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
Yes, the centre is fully accessible allowing those with disabilities the opportunity to experience the centre, the same as everyone else. Accommodation, facilities and activity bases all have specialised equipment to assist those with additional needs.
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
Yes. We are extremely proud to say that our centre can fully cater for those that need additional support, from the activities that we run to the expertise of the staff.
Anything else?
We operate a bursary programme which enables young people to access outdoor learning opportunities so if you need assistance towards funding, please contact us to discuss if we are able to help you.
