Blue Reef Aquarium School Trips
During your visit to the aquarium you will be able to see all of the displays at your own pace, but for an extra charge we offer a guided educational tour with one of our aquarists.
The tour lasts approximately 45 minutes – the children will be led by one of our friendly aquarists on the ultimate undersea safari learning about the marine life in each of our exciting zones - from native fish found around the UK to colourful tropical species from around the world. They will explore our jungle discovery zone packed full of creepy crawlies and remarkable reptiles. The aquarists will ensure the children take a wealth of knowledge back to the classroom.
We also offer goodie bags in the shop - please ask the bookings officer for more information.
We provide a risk assessment, education pack and quiz at no extra cost – please enquire when you make your booking.
Why are Blue Reef Aquarium great for School Trips and Educational Visits?
Our qualified aquarists can cater their tour to the topic you are studying, linking the experience perfectly to your curriculum.
What size groups do you cater for?
We can cater for any sized group for standard visits. Tours will be up to a maximum of 30 children. If you have more children in your group, we will split the group accordingly – in this instance please allow enough time for multiple tours. Maximum three tours a day.
Is there first aid on site?
We always have at least one First Aid trained member of staff on site, with First Aid kits in several locations.
Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
We have a disabled toilet. The only restriction is 7 steps down and 7 steps back up from the underwater tunnel. Other than that we are completely wheelchair accessible.
Although no payment is due until the day of the visit, we would appreciate knowing your method of payment, as this will ease your entry into the aquarium. Please note payment must be received prior to, or on the day of the visit or entry will be denied.
Unfortunately, we do not have any indoor spaces to eat lunch in, but have an outdoor uncovered decking area your group may have exclusively for an additional charge of £20 per hour. Please book this as soon as possible as timeslots are limited. Maximum 60 children at once.
If you would like to make a booking please contact bookings officer Leanna Lawson via email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01424 718776. Please ensure when contacting us that you have to hand:
• A contact name, name of the school and telephone number
• The desired date and time of your visit
• The number of pupils in the group
• The number of teachers in the group and any carers
• Your list of options (tour/goodie bags/lunch space)
Please note on booking your visit we will issue you with a timetable of your day here at the aquarium. When planning the visit we will allow half an hour between arrival and tours for toilet breaks/traffic hold ups.
