Launching in 2026, Puzzle Locker offers the UK's first immersive WW2 escape room workshop.Using iPads and interactive puzzle mats, your class will journey back to WW2, competing in teams to solve puzzles, collect artefacts and uncover the secrets of the past. In this thrilling one-hour experience, pupils will explore Churchill's Cabinet War Rooms, pack a suitcase in preparation for evacuation, and recover three missing propaganda posters from an ammunitions factory.

What activities are available during this school workshop?
Our workshop days are designed to be shared between 3-4 KS2 classes. Each class or year group can select a theme to match their current topic. We currently have the Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, and WW2, with Vikings, Space, and Tudors planned for the middle of 2026!
Each Puzzle Locker day includes the following activities:
1. Pre-Workshop Introduction (30 minutes)
Before the escape room adventure begins, teachers are provided with a classroom-based PowerPoint briefing. This includes tutorial videos, clear learning objectives, and background information to build excitement and prepare pupils for the challenge ahead.
2. The Escape Room Experience (60 minutes)
The main event takes place in the school hall. Each topic features three mini escape rooms, lasting approximately 12-15 minutes each. Every level is enquiry-based, encouraging pupils to work in teams to solve puzzles, collect artefacts, and unlock clues that help them answer their key question.
3. Follow-Up Resources (60 minutes)
To extend learning beyond the experience, every workshop comes with follow-up resource packs created by qualified teachers. These include word searches, crosswords, comprehension tasks, and maths challenges to reinforce the learning objectives in a fun, engaging way.

Click to read full text In this immersive WW2 escape room, pupils are transported back to 1939-1945 to help Churchill recover three missing items from the Cabinet War Rooms, pack a suitcase ready for evacuation, and track down vital propaganda posters from a wartime factory.
The workshop is divided into three themed mini escape room games, each built around a key enquiry question. Pupils work in teams to solve puzzles and collect artefacts, unlocking new information and deepening their understanding of the Second World War.
Room 1: Churchill's Bunker
Three crucial objects have gone missing from Churchill's Cabinet War Rooms, and your class must solve three puzzles to find and return them!
Pupils will uncover:
- When, why, and how WW2 began
- The Allies and Axis powers
- Key leaders during the war
Room 2: A Child's Evacuation
It's September 1939, and children are preparing to evacuate from cities to the countryside. Your class must solve three puzzles to find the missing items needed to pack their suitcase.
Pupils will discover:
- Why children were evacuated during the war
- What essentials they needed to pack
- The emotional and social impact of evacuation
Room 3: Women at War
Three propaganda posters encouraging women to join the war effort have disappeared from the factory floor. Your class must solve three puzzles to recover these important pieces of history!
Pupils will learn about:
- The vital role of women working in factories
- Women serving as medics on the front line
- The branches of the armed forces open to women during the war
What size groups do we cater for?
We work with 3-4 KS2 classes per day, and each class or year group can choose a workshop that fits their current topic.
Each escape room session in the school hall can accommodate up to 33 pupils at once. We provide 11 interactive puzzle mats and 11 iPads, with pupils working in teams of three to complete the challenges.
