Arvon – Totleigh Barton, Devon
School Trips @ Arvon
Arvon is celebrated for its unique ability to discover and develop the writer in everyone.
Bring a group to one of our writing houses in Devon, Shropshire or Yorkshire, to work with published authors, and ignite a lifelong love of creative writing.
Our schools weeks are led by two professional writers, with tutorials, group workshops, and time and space to write. Groups live, write and eat together, cooking their evening meal in teams. Whether you want to bring talented writers, or individuals who need more support, each week is shaped around the participants' needs and interests.
Why are Arvon great for School Trips and Educational Visits?
An Arvon week provides a chance to develop writing and language skills, alongside imagination and creativity. The experience can also improve participants communication skills and self-belief. For many, these five days can be life-changing.
Writers we work with include Mark Haddon, Malorie Blackman, Simon Armitage and Jamila Gavin.
Totleigh Barton, the first ever Arvon centre, is a 16th-century manor house in one of the most peaceful and idyllic parts of Devon. There is a beautiful and productive garden and orchard. It lies two miles from the village of Sheepwash, with walks along the River Torridge nearby.
