Which Curriculum Subjects do you cater for?

Performing Arts

Our Special School Workshops encourage children to express themselves in whatever way they want to. Everything is allowed from spinning, stimming, screaming and dancing. We give opportunities for dancing, singing, and playing instruments, adapting in the moment to meet the needs of each individual class and child.

Dance

During our special school workshop: The Rocktopus Experience, we encourage as much dancing as possible. Whether thats rolling on the floor and feeling the vibrations, helping create dance routines for a music video or anything in between, we feel that music and movement are vital elements of all of our workshops!

Music

We are a live rock band and are very sensitive to the needs and challenges facing children in special needs schools. We are able to play very gently, responding to the children and increasing volume and tempo as we see them get used to the music, providing a musical experience which they can access and which doesn't overload them.

We also have sections of the workshop which allow children to play instruments with us and even compose songs with us which can be made in to music videos!

These workshops have been specifically designed with special needs children in mind. We are a live rock band and we have a vast array of different music and performance activities which we can call on during a workshop to cater for all needs. Music making, dancing, singing, drumming, songwriting or just listening and feeling the vibrations. We have become experts at responding to the energy in the room and adapting our workshops in the moment to meet the needs of the class and the individual.

What size groups do you cater for?

We can work with any size group from 5 - 70 children.

Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?

Absolutely! This workshop has something for all children no matter what their disability.

Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

Yes! This workshop is not an adaptation of our other workshops but made specifically with special schools in mind.

Who are Rocktopus?

We are Tom Veck and Andy Hawkings, 2 qualified primary teachers and life long rock musicians with a passion for teaching the next generation to ROCK!

Rocktopus are an award winning rock band for kids, families, schools and anyone who is young at heart! Since forming in 2015, we've taken our high energy, interactive school workshops, live shows and conference energisers to all corners of the UK.

We've created a whopping 800 original school songs and music videos, we've rocked out at Glastonbury Festival and we've energised countless national PE teacher conferences. Combining our experiences as trained primary teachers and rock stars, we are natural performers who care greatly about the well-being of the next generation.
