Pep the Poet - Mental Health & Well-being Workshop

School Workshop

trip icon Within his workshops, Pep openly discusses his journey of discovery from a very dark place (where self-centred fear and anxiety ruled his life) to the beautifully enriched life that he lives today.

Pep talks about quietening that negative inner chatter within our heads. He offers a wealth of activities and materials that helps to keep hose little brain monsters in their place.

He has a passion in helping others to find a way to deal with, and sometimes get rid of, those negative feelings that consume us. Ask Pep and he will proudly tell you that he has found the key to life in three simple words: ‘Fear Tells Lies.’

Where we travel to

We can visit your school in: East Midlands, West Midlands, London & South East, East of England, South West, North East, North West, Yorkshire, Wales, Scotland

What activities are available during this school workshop?

Pep’s positive mental health and well-being workshops are very interactive. There are discussion groups with a whole host of subjects relating to mental health.

Role play activities, hot seating and interviews that address the impact of negative thinking and anxiety.

As a published poet, Pep has a fantastic way for encouraging and supporting the participants to wrote down how they are feeling using poetic prose.

Anti-bullying Drug and alcohol awareness Teamwork and resilience Mental health and awareness Morality Right and Wrong People who help us

Pep’s whole focus is helping children to raise their own self-esteem and self-worth.
As a child himself he was the victim of bullying. He is a great advocate of self-actualisation and encourages young people to look within themselves to find the answers to any problems that they may be experiencing.

He talks about teamwork, cooperation, resilience and the importance of collaborating with likeminded people; focusing on a common goal.
He is a great supporter of how having both a healthy mind and body can enhance our well-being.

Critical thinking, posing difficult questions and making the comfortable slightly uncomfortable are great ways of bringing about long-lasting change.

Pep is someone who believes that ’Emotional Intelligence’ should be taught as a stand-alone curriculum subject in all schools. He likes to use the acronym, STAR: as an ingredient for a truly wonderful life: Support; Trust, Acceptance and Respect.

What size groups do we cater for?

Due to the nature and sensitivity of the subject matter small groups of ideally no more that 15 are preferred.

Pep can also facilitate whole class activity and discussion of up to 35 students.

Visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Pep the Poet is a mental health advocate who uses his experience working with people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to create awareness and understanding of mental health challenges.

Pep uses a variety of tools to connect with a wide audience, including spoken word poetry and signed communication. Signing can be a powerful tool for self-expression, and Pep’s ability to teach basic signing can empower people who may not be comfortable with verbal communication.

Peps creative approach to mental health awareness makes it more engaging and accessible, especially for younger audiences or those who find traditional resources intimidating. By sharing his experiences and the challenges faced by people with SEND, Pep fosters empathy and encourages people to address their own mental health struggles.
