Pep the Poet Workshop

Here's a breakdown of what children can expect:Discovery of Poetry: Children are introduced to various poetic forms, ranging from short funny poems, to longer group poems and poems that are set out in the form of a playscript.
The Power of Language: The workshops explore the building blocks of poetry – imagery, metaphor, rhythm, and rhyme. Children learn how to use these tools to paint brilliant pictures with words, add depth to their writing and create a sense of flow in their poems.
Enhanced Literacy Skills: By working with poetry, children can improve their vocabulary, reading comprehension and writing fluency. As well as gaining confidence in expressing themselves creatively through writing.

Pep’s poems come alive with rhythm, rhyme and vivid imagery; enabling the children to develop their vocal projection, character development and emotional expression.

What size groups do we cater for?
Pep can work with groups of children (10-35) working on poetry writing skills.
For performance sessions he can cater for up to 90-100 children

Visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Many of Peps poems are accompanied by signs and gestures. Pep is a former Qualified Makaton Regional Tutor and has a good understanding of Deaf Awareness and is semi-fluent in BSL (British Sign Language)
