We have most Shakespeare plays ready to perform anywhere across the country- at any time! Our mission of "Shakespeare for all" means they are accessible without losing the meaning or language: Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Macbeth, The Tempest, Twelfth Night, Anthony and Cleopatra are all popular choices. Our performances have been loved by thousands of people nationwide, from the sold out shows at the Pleasance in Edinburgh Fridge to the West End in London. From Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, Independents, Colleges, SEMH Schools, and PRUs through to Universities- we know what it takes to get children and young people into Shakespeare.

What activities are available during this educational workshop?
We offer 1 hour performances of any Shakespeare play.
We provide workshops delivered by professional Actors/Facilitators tailored to your learning outcomes.
We aren't limited to Shakespeare either- we can bring the entire English Lit and English Language curriculum to life.

Which Curriculum Subjects do you cater for?
English
Shakespeare Teachers regularly use our performances and workshops to help with comprehension and understanding of a plot, scene, speech or staging or even as exam preparation or revision. For us- it's about the cultural experience & motivation to study Shakespeare. We didn't like studying the plays ourselves at school- so we are very ready to engage, enthuse and inspire!
Drama
Our performances and workshops are adapted specifically for your school and its context. In addition to theatre quality performances, we deliver workshops on staging, acting techniques, speaking Shakespearian language and write each workshop plan bespoke so you know your learning outcomes will be achieved.
Performing Arts
Our actors having performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre and alongside big names like Micheal Sheen and James Mcavoy. Our collective experience of over 70 years in the performing arts will help your students to see things from a new perspective- and have fun along the way.
Elizabethans
What's more Elizabethan than the man himself? Shakespeare!
Help your students to understand what a real, Elizabethan Shakespeare play would have been like with our retelling- complete with audience interaction!
Shakespeare performed for prince and pauper, and a day out at the Globe was a truly Elizabethan experience.

Our workshops are limited to 35 pupils in each workshop, maximum. Though we can run multiple workshops at the same time or over the course of the day meaning we can reach a secondary school year group in a day!

All of our shows are suitable for pupils with SEND.

We have delivered in all contexts and settings and will adapt the performance or workshops as needed.
Who are Rubbish Shakespeare Company?
The Rubbish Shakespeare Company (RubSC) are a children’s and family-friendly theatre company, with roots in Creative Education.
Their goal: for the Bard’s work to be accessible to everyone, regardless of background. As for those who’ve had negative formative experiences with Shakespeare, RubSC want to show Shakespeare is not, in fact, rubbish!
RubSC is continually evolving, improving and building as a company. For over 10 years, we have created, ran and lead some exciting projects - from a canal boat residential to school productions of Shakespeare - as well as worked with amazing companies including Aim Higher, Canal & River Trust and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
