Toys through Time is one of our brand new workshops, that delves into the history of toys! We start with a short discussion on how toys were invented many years ago, to how they changed over time! We have a guess the era game, where children get to guess which era the toy was invented!Then, for a whole hour, children will get to play with many of our games and toys from the 1800s, 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s! We have board games such as Twister, Jenga, Ker Plunk, Operation, Skittles and much more! We have Barbies, teddy bears, toy soldiers, yoyos, trolls and even MORE fun toys! We are sure that even the staff will enjoy this fun, hands on, exciting workshop!

Which Curriculum Subjects do you cater for?
Victorian
Toys Our Toys through Time workshops will include toys from the Victorian era! We talk about the games and toys such as Skittles, hoop and stick, hoop toss, skipping ropes and the many toys they would use during this era, such as china dolls and toy soldiers.
Twentieth Century
Our Toys through Time workshops focuses on toys that were invented and used throughout the Twentieth Century! From the 1930s all the way to the 1990s, we discuss how these toys changed through time, and how many of them made an impact throughout the years!
Local History
We talk about the history of toys that were used all throughout Wales, and the world! If you would like us to delve more into local history of toys, such as what toys were more popular in Wales, and what toys were made in Wales, please let us know and we can see what we can do!

Join us for our Toys Through Time workshops, where we explore the fascinating world of Victorian-era toys! We'll dive into popular games and toys of the time, like skittles, hoop-and-stick, hoop toss, skipping ropes, and more. Discover the cherished playthings of the era, from delicate china dolls to classic toy soldiers, and see how children of the Victorian age entertained themselves.
What size groups do you cater for?
1 hour session for up to 35 children (1 class)
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
Yes, we cater for all children and alter our workshops where needed
Anything else?
Our workshops are 1.5 hour sessions for 1 class (up to 35 children), we also offer other sessions if needed, please ask if you'd prefer longer sessions or sessions throughout the day.
Who are Gweithdy Rhyfel Byd Cymru World War Wales Workshops?
Gweithdy Rhyfel Byd Cymru is a workshop company owned by Melanie Jones, that caters to children of key stage 1, 2 and 3, as well as home education, youth clubs, and care homes across Wales. We offer 9 different themed workshops which are: WWII, Victorians, Celts, Romans, Children of the Mines, Medieval, Ancient Egypt, Pirates and Toys through time. Each workshop focuses on bringing history to life through hands on activities, holding and trying artefacts from the eras, dress up, and interesting discussions with pictures, clips and videos.
