A good story that keeps us engaged is the essence of English literature. A Christmas Carol is one of the most well known Christmas stories in English. As with much of the work of Charles Dickens it was written to be read aloud, the characters are carefully crafted and the themes are universal.
Gawain and the Green Knight is one of the most famous stories from the Arthurian Legends which would have been told aloud at feasts and gatherings. These myths and legends are part of the culture of Britain and an important part of the canon of English literature.
Storytelling is an ancient dramatic technique and not as easy as you might think. For teachers wanting to try storytelling as a drama activity there are a lot of tips and techniques to pick up from this session. We include a Q&A session where students can find out how they can create characters, atmosphere and build intrigue so they can tell their own stories in this dramatic way.
Storytelling is one of the oldest performing arts and in this session your students will see how an expert uses his voice and physicality to create a variety of characters and transport you to another world. There is a Q&A session where students can ask our storyteller about the process of creating a storytelling session.
We have extensive experience working with a range of different needs and abilities with ages ranging from Early Years through to KS4, including much work in SEN and PRU settings, and all our actors thrive on the variety of audiences that we encounter.
