We offer a range of physical activities across our centres which promote health and wellbeing, resilience and team-building skills. Activities at Peak Venture include climbing, high ropes, abseiling, laser tag, archery, fencing, raft-building and canoeing.
Used as either a full programme, or as individual progressive sessions, Bushcraft teaches young people the wide range of skills necessary to survive in a wilderness scenario.
Young people are encouraged to think about their perception of the natural world, as well as understand which elements can be utilised in conjunction with newly acquired skills; such as learning to construct a shelter, safely lighting a campfire using natural materials, and using campfire gadgets to cook a variety of meals outdoors.
Our canoeing and kayaking activities are led by fully qualified British Canoe Union trained Instructors, who organise games and aqua activities in our North American style canoes. These give students the opportunity to try something different and building water confidence and team-working skills, all under the watchful eye of our trained lifeguard.
Raft-building is a great activity for learning the intricacies of teamwork, leadership, planning and problem solving, but more importantly how not to get wet! Pupils work together to design and build their raft out of barrels, logs and rope and take to the water to test out their craft. Naturally, safety is our top priority, so buoyancy aids and protective clothing are provided, and all activities are carried out in carefully controlled, safe environments.
Stand up Paddleboarding (SUP) has proved to be a great innovation in watersports with a whole new subculture taking this activity to extreme lengths. It combines the skills of the surfer with the ability to paddle the specially designed board using a long canoe paddle. This is a skill that takes some practice and is wonderful for developing great balance and core strength for students but also flexes the mind, developing resilience and instilling a healthy approach to life’s challenges.
Explore stunning locations with highly trained, specialist tutors who will provide students with the key skills they need for exams and research projects. KS3 Geography and Biology students will discover a range of environments including coastal, woodlands, rivers and urban areas, in preparation for future GCSE investigations.
GCSE Geography students will be inspired by some of the best human and physical geography field studies locations in the UK.
GCSE and A level Biology fieldwork programmes are delivered by trained, specialist instructors and are designed to meet the needs of the curriculum as well as the needs of your school.
Creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking are recognised as the key 21st century skills needed for success in education and beyond. At Kingswood, young people are challenged in a myriad of ways, both as individuals and in teams, whether this be during raft building, orienteering, bushcraft challenges or high ropes scrambling; spurring one another on to complete the adventure. New for September 2023 is the Skills4Life programme for secondary school aged students, designed to offer progressive exposure to challenges which have meaningful, real-life application and will build resilience. Working in teams to collaborate with or compete against one another, young people will gain important life skills whilst enjoying some fun and rewarding experiences.
Our quality English language and adventure courses give students the opportunity to improve their language skills in a vibrant and exciting environment. Our classes are taught by qualified English language teachers and we provide a varied educational programme, combining classroom learning with exciting adventure activity sessions.
International students choosing our standard English as a Foreign Language (EFL) programme will receive tuition in classes of up to 15 students, alongside a fun, challenging and exhilarating activity programme.
The focus is on developing confidence in the English language with particular emphasis on speaking and listening. Students gain a certificate of English language and a course report on the progress they have made during their time with us. Outside of the summer months, this programme can be tailored to your needs with additional excursions.
Kingswood’s support of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including learning difficulties, behavioural issues, hearing, visual or mobility impairment, can be found in the SEND document on the policies page of their website. Kingswood would encourage party leaders to contact the management team to arrange any SEND provisions. Programmes contain plenty of opportunities to differentiate for varying abilities. Kingswood are able to accommodate participants with learning difficulties, challenging behaviours, and those who are mobility, visually or hearing impaired. An overview of the general suitability of key activities offered at our centres can be viewed on our website under the policies section. We encourage any group leaders to contact their chosen centre to arrange a free visit as early as possible in the planning process to discuss their requirements.

"The school trip in 2019 was for 2 weeks and was very educative. The students had fun whiles they learnt new things. The excursions were awesome. Parents who accompanied the school recommended a next visit for their children. "
