What activities are available during educational visits?
The Wizard Walk is a one-hour walking tour, with plenty of stops for little legs. Whilst your class(es) wand-er the enchanted streets of York, they'll gasp, they'll laugh and they'll have a truly magical time.

Click to read full text The Wizard Walk can be used an ideal starting point for pupils to create their own magical stories, with tales of mystical creatures, spells, magic and wizardry. Expect plenty of humour, wordplay, silly poetry and more jokes than you can shake a wand at!
There's plenty of scope for imaginative fantasy writing, as we visit the cobbled streets and winding alleyways of this enchanting city, which could be lifted from the very pages of a fantasy novel. Comparisons Harry Potter, Discworld and The Lord of the Rings are all possible, but no knowledge of the wizarding world is required.
Pupils can also take writing inspiration from the history of the city. We'll wand-er York's iconic Shambles, York Minster, St. William's College, Bedern and more. We pass sites of historical interest too including the shrine of Margaret Clitheroe, a statue of Constantine and a Roman Column at York Minster.
Performing Arts School Trip
The Wizard Walk is highly theatrical, and incorporates a dynamic range of activities including storytelling, roleplay, comedy, poetry, origami, magic, illusion and special effects.
Immersive and engaging, interaction is encouraged throughout and there is plenty of opportunity to join in. The Wizard will choose a few young trainee witches or wizards to help, and invites the whole group to participate to help make spells work or find magical creatures. In short, it's magical fun for all ages!

The Wizard Walk is an enchanting way to explore the historical city of York, and begins from the iconic Shambles - the most famous medieval street in Europe. We'll wander by some of York's most famous locations, and the tour is the ideal starting point to explore the city in a fun and engaging way.
Local History School Trip
The tour begins at Europe's oldest medieval street - The Shambles - before visiting historical sites such as Mad Alice Lane, York Minster, St. William's College and Bedern. It's the perfect introduction to this enchanting city, with the content delivered in an unforgettable way on a tour like no other!
What size groups do we cater for?
The Wizard can accommodate groups of up to around 35, but often runs multiple tours in the same day - or over several days - to fit in around other attractions and experiences. He in no stranger to running up to 3 tours a day, and welcomes pupils and teachers from all over the world!
On-site classroom facilities?
No, The Wizard Walk is unable to offer indoor classroom facilities but, subject to good weather, can recommend local outdoor park and garden spaces.
We have a partnership with nearby Loopy Scoops Ice-Cream Parlour who have a small private upstairs room available for booking. Ice-creams and other treats can also be provided with a magical discount

Yes absolutely, The Wizard Walk of York always strives to be fully accessible - and the route has been carefully planned to minimise any potential access issues. The route is wheelchair accessible, and a full route breakdown can be provided in advance.

The Wizard guide regularly welcomes neurodivergent pupils on the tours, and can advise on any potential moments that may cause sudden surprise. A full Social Story document can be provided with photos, to help ease any concerns or worries.
