Our full-day Key Stage 1 workshop combines history, science and design and technology to explore toys. Children will learn different ways to classify toys (found vs made) and what they are made from (wood vs plastic, etc.). They will play with toys to understand how they work.

Design Technology WorkshopOur History of Toys workshop explores the different materials used to make toys through time. Children will learn to identify the materials, then sort and group them. They will design functional toys using a range of tools and mechanisms. They will also explore and evaluate existing toys throughout history.
Historic Events Beyond Living Memory WorkshopDuring our History of Toys workshop, children will encounter antique toys made from traditional materials. They can compare the differences in toy materials and designs from earlier eras to today.
