Not only are we the No1 Tourist Attraction in the UK, but we also specialise in activity based learning for students across the country.

Our tours will introduce you to the 2000 years of fire and plague, Kings and Queens, lives and deaths (with some horrible history facts along the way). Meet all the greats from Henry VIII to King Charles, Shakespeare to Churchill and Beckham to Boris! We will ensure your students witness the stories that have shaped London all from the comfortable cushioned seats of your very own Thames Rockets speedboat.

After experiencing our whistle-stop city history tour, get ready to hold on tight and ride the river Thames waves as we blast you through Canary Wharf at 35mph - the perfect way to help your students cement their London learning.

What activities are available during educational visits?

Thames Rockets are ready to welcome you for a 35mph speedboat BLAST through the heart of London, all whilst learning city facts that you never knew before! Groove away to classic tunes as we transport you through time on this super speedy whistle stop London tour, designed to blast learning to a WHOLE NEW HEIGHT!

Which curriculum topics do we cater for?

green tick Team Building School Trip

There is nothing that bonds a group together more than a shriek, scream and squeel down the river Thames at 35mph! This unforgettable activity starts with interesting facts and stories from our live tour guides, followed by a blast through Canary Wharf!

green tick Monarchs School Trip

As you pass the famous Landmarks that have shaped London's history for generations, your guide will tell tales of Britain's Monarchs throughout the years. From The Houses of Parliament and Westminster, to the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London and then on to Queen Victoria's link to Tower Bridge - this is a tour you'll never forget!

green tick Twentieth Century School Trip

Is theatre your thing? Did you know that the Tate Modern was built in the Elizabethan era? Did you also notice a striking resemblance between Battersea Power Station and the Tate Modern? That's because they were built by the same architect! But, that's only the beginning of the 20th century facts you'll learn during your London speedboat sightseeing experience!

green tick Local History School Trip

You will have a professionally trained actor/comedian guide giving you a very interesting, stand up, whistle stop tour of London. This will include information about London's landmarks, the history of London (The great fire of London). All of the London history that is spoken about will be seen throughout the experience. Your route will consist of leaving the London Eye, seeing Westminster and going all the way down to Canary Wharf (past Tower Bridge) and back to the London Eye.

What size groups do we cater for?

Our speedboats can hold up to 12 individuals. We have 5 boats in our fleet therefore the largest group size we can take is up to 60 people at a time.

On-site classroom facilities?

N/A

Is there first aid on site?

All of our Skippers are first aid trained and there are two crew on each boat.

Access for visitors with disabilities

Yes. The London Eye Pier is wheelchair accessible however there are four steps that individuals need to get down to board the vessel. Unfortunately the London Eye pier cannot accommodate those with motorised wheelchairs.

Visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

We are happy for those with SEN to come on board. Our speedboats do go to a top speed of 35mph and have loud music on board. We do not recommend this experience for anyone with sensory issues (i.e. loud sounds etc)

Who are Thames Rockets?

Originally London RIB Voyages, Thames Rockets took to the river Thames in 2006 becoming the first ever Thames speed boat tour-operator in London. Within a matter of months our first award ‘Small Business of the Year’ was proudly mounted on our now overflowing mantelpiece, quickly followed with the ‘Best New Tourist Attraction: Gold Award’ from VisitLondon. Soon after came Five Stars from the famous Timeout, London magazine.

We are always on hand and ready to bring you and your friends, family and colleagues a trademark Rocket experience through the most famous city on Earth. Revved up and raring to fly, come and see why we are the #1 ‘thing to do’ and consistently topping the ‘what to do in London’ lists.

Over 80,000 passengers take to our fleet every year. With numbers like that there really is no need to accept imitations of this truly outstanding attraction. With the best London tour guides, the most talented skippers and the only Rocket boats in town our experience and know-how means you are guaranteed the best service – all with the added personal touch that keeps our lovely passengers returning year after year.
