A hands on theatrical opportunity, students won't just be immersed in script writing and performance but it will also get them thinking about lighting, sound, stage design and costume. The perilous journey begins in your classroom with our free to download lesson plans. The first hour will explore 'a horrible cast of characters' and the components of a successful villain, students will make inferences about characters based on historical context and act in role as a given character conveying thoughts, feelings and emotions. The second hour delves into frightening scenes and showdowns and the opportunity to identify with some of the features of the horror genre. On returning to the classroom the final hour lesson will recap on what makes a good script.

English School TripStudents will see first hand the importance of character building, using intonation, tone, volume, mood, and action to convey meaning. Student's will be able to identify the features and impact of immersive storytelling whilst experiencing a range of dramatic techniques and performance elements that bring history to life.
Design Technology School TripA fully immersive experience, the York Dungeon transports guests back in time. Get pupils to think about set design as they venture through this immersive experience. On return to the classroom they could develop a specification for a new show focusing on functionality, audience appeal, set design and props, technology to evoke senses, characters and costume.
Performing Arts School TripThe shows of the York Dungeon are performed up to 80 times a day. Your students will focus on the role performance plays in the Dungeon, from acting varied characters with different accents and the importance of audio, lighting and costume design.
Significant Individuals from History School TripStudents will identify significant events in York's darkest history, whilst exploring crime and punishment in Britain between 1485 and the late 19th century, through live, immersive storytelling, told by mischievous characters.
