Why book
'Pirate pantomime entertainment and history' with Mr Browns Pig
The pirate pantomime show has been working well in schools for many years. It can be performed to large audiences or just one class. Using audience participation the show aims to get everyone interested in pirates. This show can stand alone, but it then works well to provide the follow up history presentation of the Golden age of piracy- classic pirates- Blackbeard, Rackham, Bonny, with lots of props, a sword fight with a teacher and plenty of time for questions and answers.

There are lots of replica pistols, swords, flags, cannons and ship props. Plus Qs and As and class photos if you wish.
Curriculum topics available: Drawing, Design.
I can lead a map making session as a costumed pirate. This would involve suggestions for designing a map, how to add specific features such as representations of trees, hills, coastline as well as sips, sharks, mermaids etc.
I mostly look at the golden age of piracy from late 1600's until about 1730. This is the time of classic pirates of the Caribbean. For older children we can look at incentives and motives, agency and life choices around piracy, including social mobility, life expectancy and political power. For younger children these topics can be explored in a more sensitive way.
I can focus on certain piratical characters. These can include people like Blackbeard, female pirates such as Reid and Bonny, Privateers such as Drake but also the role of the un-named pirates of ordinary men and women who found themselves caught up in the circumstance of their age. We look at the golden age of pirates - the time of classic pirates of the Caribbean.
What size groups do you cater for?
Performance is usually to an average of 60-90 children. It is possible to go larger with amplification in a hall, or more intimate in a classroom setting.
Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
all children are included if they can access the performance space.
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
not specifically. However, often children with SENs are present, especially if supported by the school. I am happy to accommodate specific requests, such as sensory presentation.
Anything else?
I am versatile and adaptable to your aims and objectives with both educational and entertaining material. My performance often gets a pirate topic off the ground with enthusiasm and wow factor. I am authentic with good costume and props. (no cardboard hats or plastic) I am also an honourable, goodie pirate, fair and reliable.
