Suitable for Upper KS2 and above, this show delves into natural chemistry and its origins, guiding the audience through cosmic creation and stellar recycling. From the lightest to the heaviest elements, we explain how atoms are forged within the hearts of stars, through the pulsing of planetary nebulae, and rapidly created in explosive events at the end of a giant star’s life.
The show consults the Periodic Table and helps to explain how new varieties of elements are formed through the fusion process in hot, dense stellar cores. Also explored are nebulae, stellar nurseries – molecular clouds containing enough molecular gas and dust to create thousands of new stars and planets.

What activities are available during this educational workshop?
Planetarium show, both presenter-led and film, all shown on our inflatable planetarium
Which Curriculum Subjects do you cater for?
Physics topics: Earth and space.
Our live shows include new discoveries in astronomy, and we explain them in a way that everyone can understand. We encourage questions, so please come prepared with some of your own.
Our shows are perfect for supporting curriculum-based Space Topics, and they can help students to understand simple principles of space science, such as Moon phases and orbits. We also incorporate constellations, introduce the technique of "star hopping" to find the North Star, and show how Earth's rotation makes the stars appear to wander across the sky.
Chemistry topics: Atoms elements and compounds (KS3/4), The periodic table (KS3/4).
From the lightest to the heaviest elements, we explain how atoms are forged in the hearts of stars, through the pulsing of planetary nebulae, and rapidly created in explosive events at the and of a giant star’s life. The show features the Periodic Table and helps to explain how new varieties of atoms are formed through the fusion process in hot, dense stellar cores. Also explored are stellar nurseries – molecular clouds containing enough molecular gas and dust to create thousands of new stars and planets.
What size groups do you cater for?
Up to 30 in a normal sized dome.
Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
Yes Please let us know more about your group and we will get back to you with more details about the suitability of what we offer.
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
Yes We certainly can. Please use the form below to let us know your group's specific SEN requirements and we will get back to you with more information on how we can tailor our learning experience for your children.
Who are Creative Spaces?
Creative Space is a not-for-profit organisation that provides astronomy outreach and public engagement to all ages and abilities. We offer a variety of activities, including informal talks, interactive workshops, and virtual planetarium shows. We also run an Astronomy School, which offers evening and weekend courses for anyone interested in space, from complete beginners to experienced observers.
We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn about space, and we are committed to providing high-quality educational experiences that are both fun and informative. Our team of passionate educators is dedicated to inspiring a love of space science in our community.
We are proud to have been a part of the Hastings community for over 10 years. We are grateful for the support of our members, volunteers, and donors. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of children and adults alike by sharing our passion for space.
