Your class will take a boat trip exploring our underground caverns which are part of a UNESCO world heritage site, the Black Country Geo Park. The rocks and fossils within them date back to the Silurian era, 450 million years ago. You will learn about where and how these rocks formed, and how they came to be important in the modern age and role they played in the industrial revolution.
We help your class ask the question, what are canals? and why were they built? The answer in a nutshell is all because of the Industrial Revolution. We follow the timeline of the canals starting in the early 1700s. As little historians, we strive to share the importance of asking questions with your class.
Learn how we protect our local environment and our conservation journey to protect our 250 year old tunnel underneath the heart of Dudley- the very tunnel you will venture into during your visit with us! Our skippers will provide you with a 45 minute commentary about the history and preservation of this unique environment,
The Black Country is an amazing place at the geological and industrial heart of England, where the minerals on our doorstep and the geology beneath our feet helped shape the industrial revolution and the world.
The local history and heritage around us tells a dramatic story that we'd love to share with you and your class.
We can adapt to and accommodate any additional requirements, please let us know at time of booking so we are able to discuss these with you.
