Our instructors will be delivering a number of adventurous activities all of which will require a degree of physical exercise. Many of the activities delivered the young people will not have tried before so this will enable to learn new skills, develop resilience and confidence!
Using natural objects and materials to create pictures and sculptures on the woodland floor. Students will gain an understanding of the difference between natural and man made, whilst developing their imagination in a variety of settings.
nvestigate a range of animal homes in differing habitats.
Construct homes for Mr Badger, Miss Squirrel and their woodland friends based around the observations students have made. What’s more, students will get the opportunity to transform into a badger to see whether our woodland habitat will give them a full tummy in our 'Badger’s Breakfast' activity!
Bring your pupils to our Centre to build a shelter and improve their ability to work as a team. Can they build it safely and will it keep out the rain?
Based at our Anglo-Saxon House on the fringes of the Danelaw, your pupils will be transported back to the time when the whisperings of a united England were being spoken by King Alfred. Discover the events of the Saxon invaders and how they settled across the country, through to the fall of the Anglo-Saxons in 1066. Learn about their gods, important leaders, Viking invaders, Danelaw and Wessex village life.
Dress up as a Viking child and journey to our Long House deep in the woods. Here you will discover where Vikings came from and what happened to the Vikings of Britain. You’ll travel through time from their first arrival in 789 to their demise in 1066.
After being welcomed to Sherwood Forest your adventure into medieval England begins by following trails through Sherwood Forest that Robin would have used back in the 13th century. You and your pupils will be involved in role play and storytelling based in the medieval days, "To rob the rich to pay the poor". This will culminate in a visit to the ‘Major Oak’, steeped in myth and legend. Learn about the very secrets Robin and his merry men hid in it's branches. There will also be the opportunity to examine historical artefacts and create visual timelines. Come and experience Sherwood Forest through the eyes of Robin Hood.
Bring your class along to Perlethorpe to experience a day in the life of school children in Victorian times and learn what life was like during this period. The classroom has been restored to its original layout from 1861 so it truly will be a step back in time! Your class will get to wear costumes of Victorian children, so they can be transported back to the past to see how they would have been treated by the old school master...
Your class will be transported back in time to 1940, discovering what life was like as an evacuee. During your visit your class will learn all about the history of WW2, who took part, why we joined and what happened. The children will handle artefacts from the time and be taken inside an Anderson shelter to experience what it was like during the Blitz.
We offer a variety of workshops that cover the curriculum subject Environmental Geography such as plant adventures, river dipping, river study, rock and soils, we can also tailor a programme to suit requirements.
