Art in the environment
Students will take part in shelter building exercises, using natural materials and will get the opportunity to have a go at fire lighting within a supervised environment.
Curriculum topics available: Story telling.
Building on experiences through the day students will get the opportunity to tell listen to and tell stories around the camp fire. Bringing imagination and creativity to life!
Curriculum topics available: Climbing, Archery.
During the residential students will get to have a go at Archery and Axe throwing within the rustic environment where these activities historically would have took place.
Curriculum topics available: Sculpture.
Using natural objects based around the camp students will get the opportuntity to create pictures and sculptures on the woodland floor. This will enable pupils to be able understand the difference between natural and manmade environments.
Camp Redwood is a natural environment for a wide selection of wildlife and insects. A perfect place for bat watching and this is a very popular place for spotting wild deer!
Curriculum topics available: Sustainable living.
Camp Redwood is sustainable site, students will have the opportunity to learn about sustainable living and solar energy.
Students will be able to develop understanding of life cycles, food chains/webs, human impact and become aware of the importance of dead wood to other forms of life. Explore and identify trees using keys and use art to create sculptures of trees and their life processes.
Prices start from £60 per pupil for a one night stay.
These prices are inclusive of all food, except from the packed lunch groups bring on the first day.
Instructors will deliver approximately 50% of the total activity time throughout the day; the remainder consists of self-led activities run with provided resources.
Groups may request additional NCC instructors at a cost of £250 per instructor per day
At least one instructor will remain on-site overnight.

We have 8 centres across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, all offering something different and unique. Our two residential centres, St Micheals and Hagg Farm, are located in the outstanding natural beauty of the Peak District National Park. In Nottinghamshire, we have a wilderness experience camp - Camp Redwood located near Clumber Park, and four environmental education day centres, Perlethorpe, Brackenhurst, Sherwood, Rushcliffe and the Mill Adventure Base.
