Celtic Harmony provides a program of Prehistory experiences for schools including day and residential trips to encourage participation in healthy recreation and a greater understanding of ancient crafts from pottery to storytelling. New this year we are offering remote learning workshops for pupils who are studying online.
Pupils experience first-hand how the people in Prehistory, from the Stone Age to the Iron Age, made food, clothes and shelter from the natural environment, whilst protecting natural habitats by harvesting in the traditional way.
Bring your Prehistory topic to life with our new remote learning experiences designed and guided by our costumed educators to inspire your pupils.
Choose from a range of experiences including the Stone Age Introduction, a 30 min workshop streamed direct from our Palaeolithic Cave. Learn how to make paint from natural mineral pigment and create your own cave art as a Hunter-Gatherer! The Stone Age Introduction is being offered totally free of charge for one workshop per school until 31 March 2021 due to the kind support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The Bronze and Iron Age 30 min Tasters are a perfect follow on from the Stone Age Introduction to discover more about the Beaker people crafts and Boudicca’s tribal Britain. Each workshop opens with a Prehistory Person welcoming your pupils to their roundhouse, followed by a creative classroom activity and Q&A.
For a full immersion, our 90 min Prehistory Experience is a dynamic workshop with amazing primitive skills demonstrations streamed live including Friction Fire lighting, Flint Knapping tools and Cave Painting! Your pupils will be lead through the Stone/Bronze/Iron Age activity of your choice before finishing with a live discussion about life in Prehistory.
Remote learning is easily accessible through Google Meet with a pre-session telephone meeting and teacher pack including art resources, activities are designed so that readily accessible art supplies can be used.

If photo consent is given, the teacher is asked to complete a photo consent form and a recording of the workshop is taken to communicate the work of the charity to other schools.
The Taster workshops last 30 minutes and the more immersive Prehistory Experience is a 90 minute workshop with a Q&A at the end for any questions your students might have about living in Prehistory. Teachers will need a Google Meet account, which can be easily set up if you do not have one, and a device which is able to connect with audio and video.
There is an access for all pathway around the camp with disabled toilet facilities. We work with SEN schools including pupils with behavioural difficulties and hearing impairments.
Celtic Harmony's ethos of hands-on learning and multi-sensory Prehistory experiences is especially appropriate for SEN pupils and educators are trained to accommodate the needs of SEN children.
