What activities are available during educational visits?

Proposed Itinerary for One Day
Day 1: Begin with an early bus departure from school to Bletchley Park. Spend the entire day exploring the various sites and workshops. (Note: Lunch will be at your own expense). After the visit, reboard the bus for the return trip to school.

During the educational experience at Bletchley Park with Battlefield and History Tours, participants are offered a range of engaging and insightful activities designed to enhance their understanding of World War II, code-breaking, and the historical significance of the site. These activities include:

1. Guided Tours: Explore Bletchley Park, including the iconic Codebreaking Huts, where the Enigma code was deciphered. These tours are led by knowledgeable guides who provide in-depth information about the history and operations of the site during World War II.

2. Educational Workshops: Participate in interactive workshops focusing on History, Mathematics, and Computing. These 60-minute sessions are tailored to different key stages and cover topics such as codes and ciphers, the history of Bletchley Park, the mathematics of Enigma, and cyber security.

What size groups do we cater for?

Group usually start at a minimum of 10 with no maximum group size. For primary & middle schools we work on a 1:10 free place for a teacher.

On-site classroom facilities?

If you require use of a classroom or meeting room we will always try and facilitate this for you. Please let us know at the initial request stage.

Is there first aid on site?

In our experience, schools normally have at least one accompanying member of staff who is a current registered first aider. For coach groups a coach will always have a first aid box on board.

Access for visitors with disabilities

Battlefield & History Tours will always try to assist to ensure inclusivity on any of our group trips. This is best achieved by discussing any special requirements from the initial inquiry. Sadly not all destinations are currently accessible but we will always advise on suitable alternatives or work arounds.

Visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Battlefield & History Tours is proud of its history in providing successful and rewarding tours to many groups with SEN needs. The needs of the individual are always taken into consideration

Who are Battlefield and History Tours?

Bletchley Park stands as a monument to one of World War II's most extraordinary narratives. This historic site, once the hub for MI6 and the Government Code and Cypher School, played a crucial role in deciphering complex cipher systems, including the famed Enigma. Visitors can immerse themselves in the wartime ambiance, complete with authentic soundscapes featuring snippets of conversations, music, laughter, and the distinct sounds of bicycle bells and steam trains. The meticulously restored WWII landscape at Bletchley Park offers a vivid and interactive historical experience.

The park boasts a range of attractions, including a Visitor Centre, various exhibitions in The Mansion, the Codebreaking Huts, and a dedicated museum. Educational workshops, lasting 60 minutes each, are available, focusing on History, Mathematics, and Computing.
