Citizenship
Curriculum topics available: Team building.
Citizenship education develops knowledge, skills and understanding that pupils need to play a full part in society as active and responsible citizens. We do team building that focuses on how to work in a team how to plan and execute a plan and the roles within a team.We can then also draw links to curriculum as needed.
Maths
Curriculum topics available: Logic and Problem Solving, Measurement, Geometry.
We can deliver maths through such subjects as map reading and orienteering. This teaches logic, problem solving, measurement and geometry. Design Technology

Environmental Geography

Curriculum topics available: Extreme Weather, Conservation.We offer a range of sessions and courses covering environmental geography through fieldwork. Most sessions have short classroom sessions before and after. Teaching is delivered by fully trained and experienced tutors.
Fieldstudies
We offer a range of sessions and courses covering field studies. For KS4 and A level students we link all of our courses to the exam board requirements for each subject and can tailor the course to your specific needs. English

Description: This is an activity that will teach people how to make shelters out of natural materials like wood and sticks, purify water, forage for edible food like berries, making tools, collecting wood from the surrounding area, learning how to build a fire to cook on and learning basic survival skills. We can add in some navigational skills to locate natural materials in the surrounding area. Outcomes/Purpose of Session: The purpose of this session is to learn how to work as a team to build things like shelters, develop skills such as survival, pushing people out of their comfort zones, using only what you can find around you. Build a shelter to survive the night, a fun activity to bring out the adventurer in you. Watersports

A katakanu is a vessel that allows 4-6 participants to venture out onto the water without the fear of capsizing. This is similar to 2 canoes rafted together also known as rafted canoeing.
A kayak is a vessel which is controlled by a double bladed paddle where you sit in an upright position. Each participant is securely fitted with a buoyancy aid prior to venturing out onto the water. We use two types of kayaks: Sit on top kayak & closed cockpit kayak.
Each session will start with basic land safety including how to use the paddle, fit buoyancy aid and how to stay safe on the water. For a beginners group completing a half day session we will provide knowledge of how to control the vessel on the water and finish with a mini race or game. For intermediate groups we will provide more technical information such as being confident in the water, rescue skills, safety leadership and group skills. There may also be a classroom theory option.
Raft Building - This activity can be used for many different outcomes and the sessions will start with skill training. This will include discussing the purpose of the raft (it needs to float, it needs to carry a certain weight, it needs to travel in a certain direction to a certain end destination) then you will learn knot tying and work as a team with thorough communication. You will then put into practice what you have learnt by building the raft and then venturing out onto the water to test its success.
Paddleboarding - Participants stand on their boards and use a paddle to propel themselves through the water.

Yes, Trafford has two classrooms on site.
Is there first aid on site?
All of our instructors hold full outdoor first aid certification with enhanced DBS checks in place. As well as AALA, and AAIAC, we also hold the Learning Outside the Classroom Award. This ensures that you can be confident in the quality of any session you have with us here at Trafford.
Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
Please ask for availability. We will accommodate for the students where we can depending on the activity.
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
All of our instructors are experienced with SEN students and we welcome all students for our school trips and residentials. If you require something to be in place more long term we also have our Social Development programme for both mainstream and SEN students who struggle to engage full time in a mainstream education setting to refocus and develop in the great outdoors.

Courses can vary from a couple of weeks to a full academic year. When students join us they often exhibit challenging behaviour or are facing a number of difficulties in their lives. The activities are structured to give progression, offering challenges and inspiration. The programme acts as a tool for breaking down barriers, establishing boundaries and opening up communication. Over time, steps are made to increase students confidence and boost self esteem. Peak have a proven track record in helping young people achieve. Previous participants on social development programmes have found the ability to move forward with their lives, having improved their self-esteem and social skills.

Trafford Watersports Centre benefits from a wealth of both water and land activities including challenge orienteering, canoeing, team building and raft building. We believe every child should be encouraged to experience outdoor activities and enjoy the benefits. Being outdoors and being active helps a child’s development in many ways and has been proven to help students refocus within the classroom.
Our activities are specifically designed to support primary, secondary, GCSE and A Level students on their academic and personal development journey and to meet learning outcomes. Students who join us here at Peak can also work towards a host of additional qualifications such as the British Canoeing Paddle Awards and GB Archery Awards
Trafford Watersports Centre is located at Sale Water Park, a short drive from J6 of the M60.
We offer various watersports from canoeing to sailing, and if getting in the water isn’t what you fancy we also have many different land based activities to choose from.

School Bookings
Here at Trafford we have you and your students covered, whether it is a wet and wild day on the water or you prefer to keep your feet firmly on the ground..
We can cater for groups of 18 - 200. So whether its a small group on a rewards day or a whole year group for a transition day we have the facilities to help you have a day of adventures.
In a half day session we can typically deliver 1 - 2 activities, where a full day you will be able to complete 2 - 3 activities.
