Trying new things and learning new skills as part of a team, who is the natural leader, who is the ideas person all these things come out when the group is trying some thing they have not tried before.
Either Bushcraft or disc golf can be used to explore this topic, design and build a mini shelter, will it stand up will it be waterproof? or explore flight with the disc what is the best technique do different shape disc fly differently etc.
All three of our workshops are outside, but both Disc Golf encourage movement around the school premises. At the minimum a gentle walk with purpose.
Our team building activities in the outdoors not only promote important skills such as resilience, self-esteem, teamwork, cooperation, confidence, and communication, but they also provide a fun and engaging way for students to bond and get to know each other better.
Our Bushcraft instructors are passionate about providing an immersive and memorable experience for students in the great outdoors. With activities such as fire lighting, campfires, den and shelter building, and survival skills, students are sure to be engaged and inspired. The beautiful surroundings next to the Grand Union Canal provide the perfect backdrop for these activities.
In addition to the canal, we have access to three different water environments, including the River Cole and the Sparkbrook, as well as a pond which is perfect for species comparison and observation. During early spring, we have the opportunity to watch parent geese caring for their goslings along the canal. Our woodland wilderness area also offers a disc golf course, providing students with a unique and exciting way to explore and interact with nature.
Here at Ackers Adventure we have some fantastic team building activities that can promote leadership, teamwork, and a healthy and confident learning environment:
Collaborative problem-solving exercises that require teamwork and communication.
Trust-building activities such as trust falls or blindfolded obstacle courses.
Volunteer work or community service projects to promote team bonding and social responsibility.
Outdoor team building activities such as orienteering, climbing, watersports, skiing to promote problem-solving skills and teamwork.
Building challenges such as building a tower, bridge or a structure using limited resources.
Group activities to promote healthy competition and teamwork.
Yes Spending time outdoors can have numerous benefits for students with special educational needs. Our expertise in creating outdoor spaces that are accessible and engaging can help SEN schools provide their students with unique opportunities to learn and grow. Here are some ways we can help:
Creating outdoor learning spaces that are safe and inclusive.
Incorporating team-building activities that promote confidence and socialisation.
Providing equipment and resources that are suitable for students with a range of abilities.
Ensuring that outdoor spaces are well-maintained and sustainable.
Collaborating with school staff to tailor activities to the needs and interests of their students.
Supporting schools in developing outdoor programs that align with their curriculum and learning goals.
By working together, we can help SEN schools unlock the potential of their outdoor activity program and provide their students with valuable opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.
