2. Our Facilitators are well-versed in implementing social distancing and sanitising measures into our sessions.
3. ALL of our workshops can go ahead under the current guidelines, we have simply adapted them to suit!
The Past Presents is a national Historical Experiences company that specialises in History workshops and education. We have been delivering to schools as atrusted provider for more than 10 years!
We combine our years of experience teaching young people with our unrivalled equipment, resources & activities to bring to you the wonderment of the past.
Our passion is to provide an evolving, ever-improving vehicle for learning which we can use to spark in your young people an interest in History.
It is also important to us that we use these wondrous vehicles for learning to communicate one of the key reasons for studying History....that understanding the past helps us understand who we are and where we are going.
When it comes to what we deliver and how we deliver it, nobody goes the extra mile like we do...
OUR VANS ARE HUGE! ... because we fill them with resources, kit and equipment for you!
OUR SET-UP TIMES ARE LONG! ...because we want to take the time to turn your classroom, hall or playground into Ancient Wonders!
OUR INSTRUCTORS ARE PHYSICALLY FIT! ...because they don't stand and talk; they act, fight, direct, group manage, build and construct alongside your young people.
OUR WORKSHOPS FIT YOUR NEEDS! ... all of our workshops are closely linked to the curriculum and delivered by our instructors who know how to engage young people!
In short....no one will go as far as we do to ensure your young people have the most value from one of our visits!
Session 1 – Prose, Propaganda and Print: We examine the rise of the Newspaper, the Novel and other publications and their influence on everyday life as students harness the power of print.
Session 2 – Agriculture & Industry: Students get very hands-on in this session as we examine key aspects of the Agricultural and Industrial revolutions including crop rotation, canal transport, steam power and machines
Session 3 – Plunderous Pirates & Heinous Highwaymen: This light-hearted and fun 2-part session looks at the infamous figures of lore, expelling myths and understanding the societies which allowed these criminals to flourish
Session 4 – Barbaric Battles: A hands-on look at the Napoleonic Wars…choose from a range of battles in one of our most popular workshop formats: Waterloo, Culloden, Salamanca
Any. We can take one class, a whole year group or the whole school depending on your budget!
All of our 'Reel History' online live-interactive workshops are conducted via Zoom, where we host the call. No recording takes place and video can be turned on or off depending whether young people can be seen or not.
For our online workshops, schools will need: A good, stable internet connection, an interactive whiteboard, projector and screen or large TV connected to a computer. You will need to connect to Zoom, link to a screen of some kind and have speakers that project sound to your children watching.
Yes of course...all our sessions are fully accessible and adaptable.
Yes absolutely. We currently work in partnership with a local SEN school so we are experienced in delivering to all levels.
Our Instructors are First Aid trained but we would expect the schools we visit to deal with any first aid incidents as per their own procedures.
