Which Curriculum Subjects do you cater for?
Broadstone Warren allows participants to take part in outdoor and adventurous activities in an environment which present intellectual and physical challenges and which encourage pupils to work in a team, building on trust and developing skills to solve problems, either individually or as a group.
This introduces participants to the opportunity to evaluate their performances compared to previous experiences and encourage improvement across a range of physical activities to achieve their personal best.
Curriculum topics available: Healthy Living, Teamwork and resilience.
Broadstone Warren can help to set clear expectations for standards and achievement by relating closely to specified learning outcomes, focuses on the learner and concentrates on what is learned, understood or achieved, rather than what is ‘taught’.
We emphasise progress and achievement, rather than failure which we believe motivates learners because they become partners in the activity process. We think that this enables learners to become aware of the ‘how’ of their learning, as well as the ‘what’.
We hope that this encourages critical thinking of what is valuable and relevant for the learner, and not merely what is easy to assess.
Outdoor activity identifies strengths and how to develop them further, as well as identifying areas for development/weaknesses and how they might be addressed, but overall enables all learners to make progress, achieve and have their efforts recognised.
We have equipment and resources available for teachers from our Field Study Centre, including mini-beast hunts, Pond dipping, bat detecting. The is also a small library which has books on local flora.
We have experienced staff, who have been delivering Bushcraft experiences to groups. We can deliver for example; principles of fire, fire lighting ( using a variety of ignition methods) and fire management, shelter building and tree identification.
