Forensic Farm workshops explore a variety of scientific themes, including forensic techniques, UV light, ecology, food chains, and field guides. Immersive storytelling is used to present a scenario, in which an egg has mysteriously been lost from the nest of a pair of House Sparrows. Children use their imaginations, curiosity and teamwork skills to carry out a forensic investigation, revealing what has happened to the sparrow egg. In a bid to help farmers ‘Fred’ and ‘Fiona’ discover what happened to the Sparrow egg, teams of children carry out a series of activities, including finger printing, footprint identification, feather/fur identification and testing of how well birds’ nests withstand various weather conditions.
