As the leading training venue for Circus in the UK, this is a unique opportunity to visit a purpose built Victorian power station and learn more about the exciting world of circus!
Our Educational Tours give groups the opportunity to go behind the scenes at the National Centre for Circus Arts, learning about the history of circus, how we came to Hoxton and what it takes to be a circus performer. Groups will also have a chance to take part in a short circus activity and Q&A with a circus teacher.

Citizenship
Curriculum topics available: Personal development and resilience, Team building.
Circus as an art form requires creativity, resilience and teamwork. All of these skills are observed and discussed in our tours. Resilience is often a buzzword when schools come to visit! Performing Arts
We offer high-class circus training across all of our programmes, including our outreach offers. Circus is a creative art form and students learning about the Performing Arts will see first hand what it takes to become a performer. Dance
Circus draws upon many other art forms, from gymnastics, to theatre, mime, poetry and dance. If your students enjoy and/or study dance, our tours are a great opportunity to see how dance can transfer across multiple circus disciplines.
Physical Education
Training in circus involves a broad range of movement, balance, coordination and requires focus. These are key skills need to train in circus and can be discussed in relation to your PE curriculum. PSHE
Curriculum topics available: Healthy Living, Teamwork and resilience.
Professional circus artists are great examples of individuals who take healthy living seriously. Looking after their bodies, training well, eating well and staying safe are all key components of a student life here at NCCA! English
Curriculum topics available: Story telling, Creative writing.
Books and stories telling of circus adventures often feature on the English curriculum. Why not use this visit to offer students a peek at, and taster of, the skills they read about in those narratives.What size groups do you cater for?
We can accommodate groups of up to 30.
Do you offer on-site classroom facilities?
Is there first aid on site?
Our Duty Management team are primary and deputy first aiders, and are always onsite during opening hours.
Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
Yes - our space is completely accessible with various ramps, lifts and toilets for all those who may need it. We also offer social stories and/or familiarisation documents to those who may need preparation before the visit.
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
We have worked with many SEN school and inclusive charities, working alongside disabled young people and adults with varying needs. Our desire for accessible art forms has enabled us to offer inclusive circus workshops for participants of all abilities.

Who are National Centre for Circus Arts?
The National Centre for Circus Arts is the leading provider of circus education in the UK and Europe, we involve thousands of people in the creation and performance of circus arts every year! Our diverse range of programmes includes a 3 year BA Hons Degree in Circus Arts, a progressive training programme for under 18s and a public programme open to youth aged 3 through to adults. We also aim to make circus as accessible as possible through activities such as outreach workshops in schools and for other charities and community groups.
