All of our drama workshops are Covid-19 safe and should you choose to book with us, a copy of our safe-delivery procedures will be sent out to your school.
Altru Drama is a creative education company, established in 2005. We use drama as a tool to build confidence, explore issues, develop personal and social skills, and increase topic understanding. We aim to inspire, create and educate - working with and for young people to help them learn, develop and grow. And we absolutely love what we do!
Our performances are a huge part of what we do, and we work hard to create high quality, engaging performances that are relevant to children and make a big difference to their understanding.
Our Anti-Bullying performances have been touring schools for the last 13 years and offer schools a time efficient way to promote Anti-Bullying messages to the whole school.
A performance can be a really memorable way to simply and quickly deliver key messages to your pupils.
All pupils (Reception to Year 6) watch the performance in the hall together and take part in a Q&A after the performance. All performances last for 45 minutes.
Following the performance we offer a free workshop for 1 class of children - this can be 1 whole class (maximum 35) or you can build a group from children who need some extra support, school council or Anti-Bullying Ambassadors for example.
You also receive a teachers' pack of activities for staff to complete back in class - to really embed the work of the performance in your PSHE delivery.
Our performances are tried and tested and a fantastic way for children to learn about:
- How to identify bullying (in all its forms)
- How to prevent bullying
- What to do and who to talk to if you are being bullied
- Valuing difference in others (both individuals and communities)
- Identifying your special skills and what makes you unique
- How every person can play a positive role in creating bullying free schools
In 2019, we are touring 3 performances:
Agents of Change
Road to Respect
Time to be Different
We have some dates available for each performance.
We'd love to visit you in November 2019 (Or November 2020 - we are now taking bookings!)
Curriculum topics available: Personal development and resilience, Team building.
Each performance supports children to be active and positive citizens, in their school communities and outside of school.
Performances promote respect, valuing difference and diversity, kindness and community values. Through the characters' stories, children learn important lessons about how we treat others and the impact of our words and actions on those around us.
Additionally, each performance comes with a workshop which helps children build confidence, resilience, team work and problem solving skills.
Children watch three professional actors, which can be a hugely inspiring experience and gives you lots to reflect on back in class. Altru only works with excellent quality, experienced actor educators who offer your pupils the very best experience.
For the class who take part in the workshop, there is even more to learn as they become actors/performers themselves - taking on the roles of the characters and exploring the world of the play practically and creatively.
Curriculum topics available: Anti-bullying, Teamwork and resilience, Morality, Right and Wrong.
Bullying is an important aspect of any PSHE curriculum, and our performances really do help schools explore what bullying looks like and the impact it has on people.
The performance helps children understand what bullying looks like and how to identify it - and how it differs from falling out with a friend. Both performance and workshop give children (and teachers) practical advice about what to do if they experience or witness bullying and where to go for help.
We also offer Online Safety performances in the Spring Term.
Performance can be watched by the whole school.
Free workshop is for up to 35 pupils.
Additional workshops can be booked for a small extra cost.
Performances are totally accessible for children with SEND. Performances are also suitable for SEND settings.
