As a Christian Outdoor Centre we have a staff team that can share what their faith means to them in a clear and understandable way to children of all ages and backgrounds.
Most of our outdoor activities are physical! Fostering an enjoyment and appreciation for sports of all types is important and hopefully we can help open some eyes to the options in the world around us. If you are keen to use a visit here to help complete a part of the GCSE PE syllabus then please do get in touch for further details.
All our watersports can be done by a novice for the first time. As an experienced staff team though we have the ability to stretch those who are more able.
Surfing: We teach board surfing and bodyboarding on a 2 mile long, safe, sandy beach.
Kayaking and Canoeing: Venue options include a lake, a sheltered harbour, an estuary and open rocky coastline.
Coasteering: The thrill of exploring the coastline and jumping in to the sea - led by qualified lifeguards.
Ringo Inflatable rides: Come and join us for the thrill of a speedboat ride and trips on the inflatable behind it with a friend or two!
Sea swim: Fun in the Sun! What a way to unwind from a long coach journey.
In particular the Ecology module is easily covered by visits to the local beaches to study populations and competition and the vast sand dune system of Braunton Burrows allows for a great study of succession. Freshwater and woodland sites in the local area too.
Practical field trips that allow students to sample themselves are by far the best teaching tool and with different techniques being used for rocky shore and sand dune sampling you will be able to get stuck in. Yes. We expect to have a conversation with school staff before a trip to help each party understand how we can best cater for SEN.
