Students participating in our outdoor learning programmes must learn work together on practical tasks to 'survive' their time in history. Activities take place outdoors and include, shelter building, preparing food and many more.Curriculum topics available: Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age.
Our prehistory programmes 'Stone Age Settlers', 'Iron Age Inhibitors' and 'Bronze Age Builders', take place outdoors in our forest school site and explore what life may have been like through hands on activities. Students will prepare the camp fire, try building with wattle and daub and prepare food using.Curriculum topics available: Animals including humans, Living things and habitats, Minibeasts, Habitats.
Our 'Super Shelters' programme explores shelters and habitats through a range of hands on activities. Students will learn how and why different animals build their homes, and will design and build their own shelters in the Compton Verney woodland.Group capacity varies for different programmes, please get in contact to discuss further.

Compton Verney Art Gallery and Park is an award-winning art gallery and 'Capability Brown' parkland in Warwickshire. With a purpose built learning centre, a Forest School site, six permanent collections and a diverse programme of changing exhibitions, Compton Verney has developed a reputation for delivering a range of high-quality education programmes.
Set in 120 acres of land and forestry there's plenty of space and fresh air. We run interactive, hands on, outdoor history sessions located in our unique Forest School site.
We follow the Forest School practice, which allows children and young people to explore nature by providing a structured approach to outdoor education that encourages the development of self-directed learning, problem solving and creative and critical thinking.
All of our school workshops link directly to the national curriculum.
