Rock UK Summit Centre
School Trips @ Rock UK
Rock UK is a charity that has been running residential activity centres nationwide for over 95 years. Following a £4M redevelopment project our newest site, Summit Centre offers residential trips like no other.
Accommodation - Our bunkhouse style accommodation sleeps up to 104 guests over 26 ensuite rooms. The accommodation can be split into 3 self contained accommodation blocks for smaller groups, or combined for larger groups staying. Alongside the accommodation are fully equipped meeting and hangout spaces for your group to use that open out onto a private residential garden area. A fully catered dinning hall will also keep you well fed during your stay.
Activities - Summit Centre's activity programmes are world class offering over 20 adventure activities. Starting with the former Welsh International Climbing Centre on site, we have a huge indoor climbing facility for groups of all ages and abilities. We also have a unique manmade caving complex complete with waterfall and real cave features! If that doesn't get the adrenalin pumping, our Aerial Adventure high ropes course or water sports lake will!
We will work with your group leader to build the activity programme around the individual needs and goals of your group. We keep activity groups small so sessions are interactive and engaging for all participants.

Why book Rock UK for Residential School Trips and Educational Visits?
The brand new centre and facilities, incredible activity offerings and 95 year experience makes Rock UK the perfect venue for your next school trips. As a charity we also offer bursary places to pupils. We hate the fact financial constraints can prevent young people coming away, so our bursary places ensure trips are available for all pupils, regardless of background.
Which Curriculum Subjects do you cater for?
Rock UK is a Christian charity so we can teach Christian values through practical hands on activities. For groups that choose, we can incorporate Christian themes into some of the activity sessions allowing children to ask questions and learn more about the Christian faith from a different perspective.
With over 20 adventure activities on offer, healthy meals and active days, residential breaks at Summit Centre promote healthy and active lifestyles for all ages and abilities. Getting children unplugged from technology and out into nature and the outdoors teaches the importance of physical education and a healthy lifestyle.
Our stunning surroundings offer the perfect place to get immersed in nature and the outdoors. Bushcraft survival skill sessions can either be instructor led where we will teach the group to make fires, build shelters and survive in the wild. Or teachers can use the grounds of the centre to run their own sessions including shelter building and campfires.
Water sports at Summit Centre include Raft building, Canoeing and Kayaking. The lakes at the centre offer the chance to explore the wildlife of the lakes, navigate the rapids going down into the purpose built pools and of course, the chance to jump in and swim!
What activities are available during group visits?
Activities available include climbing, bouldering, abseiling, caving, archery, bushcraft, team tasks, canoeing, kayaking, raft building, gorge walking, night hikes, environmental activities, orienteering, high ropes and more!
What size groups do you cater for?
We can cater for groups of 15-104 for residential breaks and 2 -96 for day visits (subject to availability).
Do you offer on-site classroom facilities?
Yes, we have brand new meeting spaces for schools to use. These come fully equipped with presentation facilities, tables/chairs and refreshment.
Is there first aid on site?
Yes. All instructors are first aid trained.
Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
Yes we have disabled facilities in all 3 accommodation blocks.
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
Yes we do. We advise the group leaders to get in contact with specific details so we can advise what we can offer and create a programme specifically designed for the needs of the group. Our instructor team has experience working with a wide range of special educational needs.
If group leaders would like to come and visit the centre to check out the facilities first hand before booking, please get in touch. We would be happy to show you around and run through the different trip options. Overnight accommodation is available if required (subject to dates).
