Historic Workshops prides itself on providing the very best school workshops. Incredibly hands-on and highly-engaging, the children talk about our workshops for years after! We take great care in ensuring that our equipment is authentic and accurate, as we believe that children shouldn't go away with misconceptions (like that Vikings had horned helmets!) Everything we say to the children has been researched thoroughly to ensure that it is accurate. We are not just people dressing up - we are present/former primary teachers, passionate about history and determined to give the children one of the best days of their lives, and at the same time...learn an awful lot!
Curriculum topics available: Invaders and Settlers, Viking Raids and Invasion, Viking Trade, Mythology and Culture.
A typical Viking Workshop looks like this:
- Battle formations and tactics
- Viking games
- A Viking 'Thing'
- Viking society
- Archaeological dig
- Weapons and equipment handling
Historic Workshops travel to schools nationwide, to provide highly-engaging, hands-on learning that is second to none. We pride ourselves in providing a professional service that aims to deliver each workshop to as many children as possible (unlike some other workshop providers, we also provide teacher-led sessions for the children to continue their hands-on learning whilst we are delivering a session).
Most schools we visit re-book us for the following year, or for other workshops that we provide. Since our beginning in 2016, we have seen a huge rise in popularity year on year, which is a true testament to the quality and value of the workshops. In Autumn and Spring 2017-18 and Autumn 2018-19, we were fully-booked 5 days a week! It is essential that you book as early as possible to avoid missing out!
