trip icon We offer teachers well-designed, well organised school trips that support the National Curriculum for Early Years, Key Stages 1 through to 3. We also offer free places for teachers, free planning visits for teachers (prior to the main visit), pre-prepared Risk Assessments and hands-on workshops designed by teachers. We have a bank of teacher and education resources available to help support your visit, and also in the classroom.

Our range of hands-on learning experiences bring the worlds of maths, science and technology to life outside the classroom.

What activities are available during educational visits?

We offer a programme of education sessions for Early Years through through to KS3 students! Drawing on core principles from maths and engineering through to science and technology.

Storytelling Vocabulary grammar and punctuation Comprehension

With our Early Years Storytales workshop, children will develop their language and literacy skills such as expressing thoughts, ideas and opinions, having conversations with others and understanding narrative and structure elements. Our lesson objectives here cover helping to monitor whether the children are developing language and literacy skills through: Children being able to describe things and events, children are able to understand fundamental narrative structure and elements.

Measurement Logic and Problem Solving

With our catapult and seesaw workshops you will build and test models that use first class levers. What changes can be made to make the catapult project further? Students will investigate pivot, effort and load, first class levers, they will measure with standard units of measure and predict outcomes of various trials.

Mechanics and engineering

Exploring the effects of gearing, and balanced and unbalanced forces on the movement of an object. Can you build a device that can make a spinning top and spin? What changes can be made to make it spin for longer? The lesson objectives here cover combining materials, evaluating, game design and gears.

Gears and Pulleys Forces

Our spinning tops, catapult, seesaw and robotics workshop we demonstrate scientific principles of balancing forces, energy, levers and pivots via the creation of a Seesaw build. Students will predict outcomes of experiments involving experimentation with weight. You will also learn how to describe movement in different ways and how cause and effect can be explored in mechanical systems.


What size groups do we cater for?

To book at our exclusive education rates your group booking will need to be for 10 students or more; we offer a free teacher ratio of 1 free teacher for every five primary aged pupils and 1 for every three pre-school pupils. We also offer schools a book now pay later booking option whereby you can reserve your preferred date and confirm final numbers and pay 14 days (10 working days) in advance of your visit date.

Is there first aid on site?

We ensure that there are always staff members at the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre who are trained in first aid.

Access for visitors with disabilities

We have full access for disabled visitors, including lift access to our upper floor.

The centre has been designed with your needs in mind.
