Every student who visits Bore Place will have a tour of the organic farm at Bore Place and learning about how the cows are looked after, as well as what they eat, what they produce and where they live.
Bore Place is home to myriad birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, trees, hedgerows and wildflowers. Depending on what time of year you visit you will have the chance to explore some of our habitats, including meadows, orchards, ponds and woods.
Students will learn about lifecycles, food chains, identification and observing simple features. Some of our observations may even be used as data for larger scientific studies.

Our vegetable garden is also a good place to learn about parts of a flowering plant, plant reproduction and the interactions between plants and animals.
For Key Stage 3 students there is the opportunity to think critically about food production; debating the issues surrounding regenerative and organic farming.
If you would like your programme to include art, you will have the opportunity to work with several different media, depending on the seasons. For example, in autumn we can collect beautiful leaves to weave into mobiles or create collages. In spring, fresh nettle leaves are perfect for making natural paints, or to practise the Japanese art of hapazome. In summer, the abundance of wild flowers and invertebrates is a perfect subject for painting or drawing. Even in winter, we can make clay tree faces to watch over us as we explore, or draw with chalks or homemade charcoal.
Healthy living and eating is at the heart of Bore Place. We also know there is a strong connection between nature and mental wellbeing. Our residential trips are perfect for helping students connect with nature in a meaningful way.
If your focus is on teambuilding, confidence building and resilience, you may like to inquire about our bushcraft activities. Den building, tool use, fire lighting and outdoor cooking are all available, depending on the size and age of the group.
Students are encouraged to think about how land is used, and issues surrounding importation and the use of natural resources. In KS3 programmes, pupils will think critically global issues in food and farming.
We have extensive experience of working with SEND groups and are willing to alter or specially design programmes to suit pupils with additional needs.
Bore Place is an educational charity, working organic dairy farm and historic venue set in 500 acres of stunning countryside. Visiting groups can explore our organic market garden, wildflower meadows, woodlands, ponds, unspoilt countryside and the organic farm. It is a fantastic venue to get pupils outdoors in the countryside and learning about farming, food and the environment.
Our Old Stables venue has indoor sleeping for up to 20 guests. We provide wholesome, organic food and can cater for any dietary requirements.
