All of our workshops are available online and can be live streamed into classrooms, halls and homes. COVID related cancellations are available at short notice as long as workshops can be rescheduled for later in the year.
At the Drama Hut, we believe that children should have ready access to drama in order to support learning. The Drama Hut was created to provide an affordable service that teachers could access, to help bring the curriculum to life out of the classroom . Through drama, children are able to experience a subject, complementing and enhancing their learning in the classroom.
With over two hundred schools visited last year, we are passionate about the impact that drama within schools, can have on children’s education.
All our team are professional actors, trained by us to help facilitate learning through performance. They all have experience working with children of all ages and share a common passion of learning through drama. All facilitators are DBS checked and implement The Drama Hut CPP (Child Protection Policy).
All we require prior to our visit is a clear space to work in and a member of staff to observe or join in the experience.
Curriculum topics available: Story writing, Fairy tales, Creative writing.
During this workshop, our professional actor takes on the role of an enthusiastic amateur writer, Sally Spade, who is keen to share her love of stories; How do they work? What’s involved? Can anyone create one? With the help of the well-known fairy tale Cinderella, Sally takes the children on a journey of discovery into the world of storytelling. During the session and with the use of improvisation, role play, sound and movement, the children will: Discuss what makes a good story, learn how a story can be structured, look at characterisation, create a soundscape and create and perform their own version of Cinderella.
Workshop topics include: Anglo Saxons/Vikings I Creative Writing I Egyptians I Greeks I Florence Nightingale I Great Explorers I Mary Seacole I Great Fire of London I Mayans I Romans I Stone Age I Suffragettes I Tudors I Victorians I WW1 I WW2 I World Book Day
We can work with up to 30 children at any one time for a minimum of 60 minutes. We offer special day rates for multiple classes and can deliver two different topics to different year groups on the same day, helping to manage tight school budgets.
"We have used The Drama Hut on several occasions to help enrich and inspire the children's experience of the curriculum. All facilitators have been well prepared and able to use their dramatic skills to deliver well-pitched and interesting workshops. Children are always excited after the session and are able to speak confidently about what they have learnt."
