The arts engagement programme offers a range of workshops where pupils and students gain access to cultural capital, learn about art and artist and develop their visual literacy while also developing their own creativity. Our outdoor learning sessions include a range of multisensory activities designed to develop environmental literacy. Our sessions include:For a self-guided visit, we can accommodate large groups across our site. For guided sessions, we can accommodate groups up to 72 in one day.
We have two learning centres: The Stickyard – our Outdoor learning centre which has both indoor and outside spaces. The Old Potting Shed – our learning centre in the heart of the garden.
First Aid trained staff are available on site with a first aid room.
Chatsworth is an Accessible Derbyshire location. There is a lift in the house, enabling access for visitors with restricted mobility. The garden is accessible to visitors who use manual wheelchairs and electric scooters, please take extra care on steeper slopes. The farmyard entrance is at the top of the main car park. A lift and a ramp give access to all parts of the farmyard. Please be aware that the playground is a woodland site with uneven terrain and a soft bark surface. The paddocks and picnic area are accessible via a gently sloping footpath. There are adapted lavatories near the house entrance, in the Carriage House restaurant and in the farmyard. Assistance dogs are welcome in the house, garden, farmyard, playground and park.

Learning at Chatsworth is delivered by a team of specialists with expertise in arts, heritage or environment based learning. In the house, garden and farmyard we deliver cross-curricular sessions that cover English, History, Science and PSHE as subjects. We integrate art and creativity into STEM based learning, making us an ideal STEAM centre.
