Adur Centre programmes are designed to give students an insight into the joys of operating and learning in the outdoor environment, whilst developing skills for life such as decision-making, resourcefulness, planning, teamwork and thinking outside of the classroom. Each session has been designed to build on the previous as well as promote self-worth and confidence in a unique and beautiful environment.
The Adur Centre offers a variety of Bushcraft experiences, we use these experinces to develop team cohesion and a sense of achievement.Bushcraft sessions can be gentle and informative or more arduous and extravagant. As an example we can cover:
Shelter building
Fire Lighting
Preparing of food and water
Trapping
Methods of rescue
The South Downs National Park is a fantastic environment for watersports either on the Adur river or in the sea. There is an abundance of options for paddlesports at the Adur Centre. From kayaking and canoeing to stand up paddleboards and sea kayaking.
There is an abundance of natural habitats that can be found by the River Adur, estuary and near by costal beach. We aim to support student in leaning about the local wildlife, habitats and biodiversity.
At the Adur centre we are passionate about the environment and respecting our beautiful surroundings. We are lucky to be able to run a building that is not only solar powered but also ground heat source operated. We encourage our students to take part in recycling, sustainable living and conservation activities.
Yes - please let us know before coming so we can ensure we can plan accordingly
The Adur centre opened in 2018 with the aim to provide outstanding outdoor activities and education to children and schools.
Situated on the banks of the River Adur and adjacent to the South Downs in Shoreham-by-sea, West Sussex; the Adur Centre is in an ideal location to deliver outdoor education to your school. The Adur residential programmes are designed to give students an insight into the joys of operating and learning in the outdoor environment whilst developing skills for life such as decision-making, resourcefulness, planning, team work and thinking outside of the classroom.
We work with schools to make sure it meets your learning objectives. We measure the success and impact through our evaluation procedure.
Our programmes offer a mixture of practical sessions mixed with group discussions and individual discovery time. We keep our team sizes to a minimum and therefore maximise the individual’s experience.
