Schools can also take part in tailored 'Challenges', fundraising for a chosen charity and developing valuable leadership & management skills for both school & future employment.

Working hand in hand with a number of local communities across the country, Malawi offers school groups a unique opportunity to learn about the day to day lives of the Malawian people and the issues facing Africans and developing economies today.

RSC operate a unique set of Educational Workshops, showcasing today’s global issues including healthcare, education, environment, climate change, water, women’s empowerment, fair trade, sustainable agriculture, nutrition, wildlife conservation and local economic development.

The concept is simple – tourism generated income helps support local economies.

Example Itineraries

*** Southern Malawi - Global Development Workshop Tour - 10 days ***

Day 1 - Depart UK on your scheduled flight
Day 2 - Arrive Blantyre Airport and transfer to your hotel. Evening orientation & briefing.
Day 3 - Transfer to Mulanje Mountain (1 hour south of Blantyre). The day is spent learning about climate change challenges, deforestation and wildlife on the reserve (including hiking to a nearby waterfall).
Day 4 - Transfer to Thyolo (1 hour from Mulanje) for a day of intensive talks and presentations on the sustainable practices and fair trade methods of Malawi’s first Fair Trade Tea Estate (and try out their huge selection of specialist teas).
Day 5 - Transfer to Nchalo (2 hours from Thyolo) for a day of talks and presentations on the sustainable practices and Fair Trade methods of Malawi’s leading sugar producer. Lunch is spent at their local wildlife reserve.
Day 6 - Travel onto Majete Wildlife Reserve (1 hour from Nchalo) for a game drive in the reserve and a talk on conservation activities in Malawi focusing on deforestation, Black Rhino and poaching.
Day 7 - Travel onto one of our specialist community based organizations in Blantyre (1 hour from Majete) to volunteer in a project for the day and take part in painting a classroom & renovating a hut (or similar activities depending on the needs of the community at the time).
Day 8 - Stay with a local family in Zomba (1 hour from Blantyre) and take part in their daily lives learning about their cultural, traditional and village life.
Day 9 - Transfer to Blantyre or Lilongwe for the flight home.
Day 10 – Arrive UK.

All Guides are trained in First Aid and all vehicles travel with First Aid Kits. RSC also operate comprehensive back up and insurance cover.
