Why should you consider Nomadic School Tours for School Trips and Educational Visits?

Iceland is one of the most ideal locations on the planet for school trips. With it's outstanding natural diversity and closeness to the UK, Iceland can offer an incredible amount to cover many curricular subjects.

Some of the highlights on our Iceland school tours include volcanoes, glaciers, waterfalls and of course most schools favorite 'Aurora Borealis' which is more commonly known as the 'Northern Lights'.

Example Itineraries

Please note we offer a full bespoke service to suit your own requirements.

Day 1 - Reykjavik—Blue Lagoon
Welcome to Iceland! We head to the Geothermal Blue Lagoon for a relaxing swim in these naturally heated waters, before heading to our hotel.

Day 2 - Southshore
Today we will travel through farmlands of the Southshore and observe the majestic mountains towering over the coast. We will get frequent views of glacier fields and mountains, including the snow-shrouded Hekla, the country’s most active volcano and the towering, ice capped strato-volcano Eyjafjallajokull. We will drive through the region where one of the best known Icelandic classical sagas, Njal’s Saga, is set. Then we will stop at the spectacular waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss, both tumbling over high rock escarpments. Weather permitting we will visit Dyrholaey, a magnificent rocky headland with sheer cliffs, to the beautifully-located village of Vik. Close to VIK are Reynisdrangar rocks – 66 metres above sea level at their highest point. According to legend the Reynisdrangar were formed when two trolls were trying to drag a three-mast ship to land. When daylight broke they turned into stone. En-route back wemay be the opportunity to visit Myrdalsjokull glacier for an optional glacier walking tour, this is strictly subject to weather and road conditions and under the discretion of the guide. On arrival back at Reykjavik we can relax some swimming at a local geothermal heated swimming pool.

Day 3 - Skaftafell & Jokulsarlon
From the hotel we will drive to Skaftafell National Park which contains some of the most precious pearls of this beautiful country. We will walk up to Svartifoss waterfall. After our visit to Skaftafell we will drive to Jokulsarlon were we will have a boat tour on the lagoon. We will see first hand floating icebergs.

Day 4 - Golden Circle
Over to Thingvellir National Park. Here you can see the theory of plate tectonics in action. This theory holds that the Earth‘s crust is made up of several plates that float around on a semi-fluid mantel, either crashing into each other or drifting apart. We continue over to the Geysir area, where we will see one of the wonders of the world, Strokkur, eject a column of superheated steam and water to heights of over 20 metres every 5 – 7 minutes. A short distance further the Gullfoss waterfal fills us with awe, where it plunges or cascades in two steps over 70 metres into a narrow canyon.

Days 5 - Reykjavik—depart
Depending on your flight schedule days 1 & 5 maybe reversed.
