The remarkable city of Berlin is an intriguing mix of modernism, communism and a darker side that can all be explored on a school trip with Adaptable Travel. We can organise a school trip bespoke to your group needs, and will enable the trip to meet your budget, dates and educational content. We will help you tailor the perfect tour which will offer you a glimpse into the dark Nazi period and the rise of the Third Reich, putting into context the classroom learning of WW2 and other historical periods.
Adaptable Travel arrange school trips for over 15,000 UK students each year, and Berlin is one of our most popular destinations. We offer a huge range of accommodation choices, educational visits and flexible travel options.
Berlin has so much to see and offer for history groups, from the must-visit Checkpoint Charlie, Brandenburg Gate and Holocaust Memorial, to lesser known visits such as the Nazi built Olympic Stadium, Berlin Underworld tour, Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp and many, many more visits that will allow your students to glimpse into the history of Germany, which of course has played such a pivotal role in the history of Britain and crucial on the history curriculum.
In addition, your students will be able to explore modern Germany with visits to the Reichstag, Berlin Wall Documentation Centre and of course the Berlin TV Tower with magnificent views over the city.
Adaptable Travel will use our expertise to help you select the correct visits for your group needs and create the perfect itinerary that will enhance your classroom teaching.
Adaptable Travel will help you create a truly bespoke itinerary based around the curriculum needs of your group. We can tailor educational trips for all budgets and needs, but below is a popular itinerary based on 4 Day, 3 Nights for History school trip groups.
On arrival in Berlin you may have some free time to explore the city before you check into your accommodation. If you do have free time, many groups choose to head to the Berlin Wall memorial to get an overview of the significance of this structure to the city. Afterwards you will head onto your accommodation, and we can even book you an evening meal at the accommodation or local restaurant if required.
On your second day you can explore the impacts of the Nazis with a visit to the Jewish Museum. This will be followed by a visit to the Holocaust Memorial and the Reichstag parliament building. Whilst in the area, you can also explore one of Berlin’s most iconic sites, the Brandenburg Gate. Finally enjoy an evening meal, pre-booked by Adaptable Travel.
Today students will continue to learn about the Nazis by visiting the Topography of Terror, to truly understand the impacts of the Nazi Gestapo, in their HQ. The afternoon will see you explore the famous Checkpoint Charlie, an area now dedicated to the history of the East and West divide.
Depending on flight times, you may have some free time before you return the UK. Shorter and extended durations are available, simply contact Adaptable Travel who are waiting to help.
