Why book
Legge House for Residential School Trips and Educational Visits?
We are a sole use site which is furnished in a homely manner where children and teachers feel free to relax. The grounds are enclosed and safe. First time away from home children are able to develop friendships and character. The programme and pace of residential stays is tailored to the needs of the children. Worksheets based in the grounds, church and graveyard are available and cover a wide area of the curriculum. A number of providers are willing to come and lead activities. We are also ideal for the non residential visit, where a half day visit locally is extended with the evening activities before a 8pm arrival back at school, again introducing the younger child to a new experience.
In 2021 we added a 3 meter crawl through pipe for the children to find in the wooded area of the grounds.
What activities are available during group visits?
Using some of the gravestones, questions give a Maths and English challenge. There are picture trails around the Church, and Legge House grounds. There are many drawing opportunities, and nature activities, associated with being in the country side. Garden and table games are available, as well as pool, table tennis and a volley ball net. Legge House adjoins the Church yard with direct access.

Is there first aid on site?
Manager and Assistant Manager are both F.A.W. The Manager is a former Advanced First Aider with SJA and The Assistant Manager a former Nurse.
We do not, however, live on site and so groups are encouraged to have their own First Aid Cover for when we are absent.
Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
Wheelchair access is possible to some of the site. There is a wet room, with disabled rails around the toilet. and a second larger toilet with grab rails. A ramp gives access to the dormitories, and one of the beds is adapted to allow for a child to be transferred into a bed in a normal dormitory. The upstairs flat and conference rooms are accessed only by normal stairs.
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
They are welcome as either part of a larger party or as a group in their own right. We are a sole use site with a minimum number of 11 people, allowing for small class to attend. The centre is furnished in such a way that children feel at home, and the teachers can relax. Anything dirtied is usually washable.
Anything else?
There are a large number of educational day visit sites locally, We are happy to host years 2 and 3 to extend their day. For example: after a visit at Avebury, the school arrives to drinks. Then an activity could be building stone circles on our lawn,(or related to where they have been) before an evening meal. Camp fire and Marsh-mellow and hot chocolate before a 7pm departure or overnight stay.
